Votes at 16 is a campaign in the United Kingdom which argues in favour of the reduction of the voting age to 16 for all public elections. The campaign espouses several principles in favour of lowering the voting age. Votes at 16 Coalition The Votes at 16 Coalition is a national group of major UK youth organisations, political parties and other supporters that campaign for 16 and 17 year olds to be able to vote in all UK public elections. The coalition is led by a steering group of active members who include the British Youth Council, the Children's Rights Alliance for England, The Co-operative Group, the National Union of Students and the Scottish Youth Parliament. Youth councils are a form of youth voice engaged in community decision-making. Youth councils are appointed bodies that exist on local, state, provincial, regional, national, and international levels among governments, non governmental organisations (NGOs), schools, and other entities. About The history of youth councils extends back to the early 20th century, when communists and Nazis formed youth-led decision-making bodies for the purpose of propagandisation and recruitment. NAHT Edge
NAHT Edge is a trade union and professional association delivered by NAHT for middle leaders (for example, heads of department, heads of year and SENCos) in schools. NAHT Edge has members throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and from across the three main stages: early, primary and secondary. NAHT Edge, as part of NAHT, affiliated to the TUC in 2014. Governance and administration NAHT Edge is advised by its Advisory Council, which consists of seven NAHT Edge members and the NAHT Edge CEO. The Advisory Council will be elected every two years. The Local Government information Unit (LGiU) is a local government membership body, thinktank and registered charity. The Intergenerational Foundation
The Intergenerational Foundation (IF) is a charitable UK-based thinktank established to promote fairness between generations. IF believe that each generation should pay its own way, which - they claim - is not happening at present. Funky Dragon
Funky Dragon ( cy, Draig Ffynci) was the Children and Young People's Assembly for Wales. It was a peer-led organisation that provided opportunities for young people up to the age of 25 to have their voices heard on issues that affected them. It worked closely with the Welsh Assembly Government and youth forums run by unitary authorities, enabling it to influence decision making at different political levels.
