Volleyball At The 2019 Pan American Games
Volleyball competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru are scheduled to be held from August 2 to 11. The venue for the competition is the Sports Centre VRDC located at the Villa Deportiva Regional del Callao cluster. The venue will also host the taekwondo competitions. A total of eight men's and eight women's teams (each consisting up to 12 athletes) competed in each tournament. This means a total of 192 athletes are scheduled to compete. Qualification A total of eight men's teams and eight women's team qualified to compete at the games in each tournament. The host nation (Peru) received automatic qualification in both tournaments. All other teams qualified through various tournaments. The North and South American qualification tournaments were held with teams competing (and not qualifying) at the respective Pan American Cups, plus any possible invited teams. Volleyball At The 2015 Pan American Games
Volleyball competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto was held from July 16 to 26 at the Direct Energy Centre (Exhibition Centre). Due to naming rights the arena was known as the latter for the duration of the games. A total of eight men's and women's teams competed in each respective tournament. The tournament was affected by the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix and the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League, FIVB Volleyball World League which were played at same time. FIVB World Rankings
The FIVB Senior World Rankings is a ranking system for men's and women's national teams in volleyball. The teams of the member nations of Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), volleyball's world governing body, are ranked based on their game results with the most successful teams being ranked highest. A points system is used, with points being awarded based on the results of all FIVB-recognised full international matches. The rankings are used in international competitions to define the seeded teams and arrange them in pools. Specific procedures for seeding and pooling are established by the FIVB in each competition's formula, but the method usually employed is the serpentine system. The ranking system has been revamped in 2020, responding to criticism that the preceding calculation method did not effectively reflect the relative strengths of the national teams.
