Confederación Sudamericana De Voleibol
The Confederación Sudamericana de Voleibol (CSV) (Portuguese: ) is the continental governing body for the sports of volleyball in South America. Its headquarters is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Profile The CSV's origins are still under dispute. Some argue it was founded in Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 12, 1946; some, that it was founded in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 3 of the same year. Either way, it was formed even before the FIVB itself, and stands as the oldest of all volleyball continental confederations. Up to now (2004), the CSV has had a total of eight presidents, all but one from national federations with some volleyball tradition at a certain point in history: Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Venezuela and Colombia, which is the exception. Thaísa Menezes
Thaísa Daher de Menezes, also known as Thaísa Menezes or Thaísa Daher, is a professional volleyball player from Brazil. She won back-to-back gold medals at the Olympics in 2008 and 2012. She has won numerous Best Spiker and Best Blocker Awards and is often singled out as one of the greatest Brazilian players of all time. Biography Thaísa was born in the Campo Grande district, located in the western part of Rio de Janeiro. Her father is a serviceman Domingos de Menezes and her mother Monica Daher is a descendant of immigrants from Lebanon. Until the age of 13, Thaísa was engaged in swimming, but then, following the example of her brother Tiago, she switched to volleyball. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. Josefa Fabíola Almeida de Souza Alves (born 3 February 1983 in Brasília) is a Brazilian professional volleyball player who won the bronze medal at the 2014 World Championship playing with the Brazil national team. Career De Souza claimed the silver medal in the 2014 FIVB Club World Championship, playing with Molico Osasco, when her team lost 0-3 to the Russian Dinamo Kazan the championship match. She was named among the championship Best Team as Best Setter. Elena Keldibekova (born 23 June 1974 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, USSR) is a Kazakhstani-Peruvian retired volleyball player who played as setter for the Peru national team. Personal life Keldibekova was born in Kazakhstan to a family of Russian origin. She moved to Peru when she was 19 years old to play one season for the Club Regatas volleyball club, but decided to stay in the country after the season was over. She is married to Johnny Westreicher, a Peruvian former volleyball player of German ancestry. The two met during her time at Club Regatas, as her then coach for the team. Madelaynne Montaño Caicedo (born January 6, 1983, in Tuluá, Valle del Cauca) is a volleyball player from Colombia, who won the silver medal at the 2012 FIVB Club World Championship playing with Rabita Baku. Montaño won the South Korean V-League in the 2009/10 season with KT&G Daejeon and the 2012-13 Azerbaijan Super League playing with Rabita Baku. She won the Most Valuable Player award in both times. Fernanda Garay Rodrigues (born May 10, 1986) is a retired Brazilian professional volleyball player who won the 2012 Summer Olympics gold medal and the silver medal at 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics with the Brazil national team.
