Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. The team may touch the ball up to three times to return the ball to the other side of the court, but individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively. ...

Bob Ctvrtlik
Robert Jan "Bob" Ctvrtlik (; born July 8, 1963) is an American volleyball player, Olympic gold medalist, businessman and former member of the International Olympic Committee. He is a 1985 graduate of Pepperdine University. Early life Bob Ctvrtlik was born in Long Beach, California to Margaret and Josef Ctvrtlik. He has two older brothers, Jeffrey and David. Their father, a native of Czechoslovakia's Moravian region, was a graduate of Charles University in Prague and knew eight languages. He was imprisoned for three months during the German occupation for refusing to serve as a translator. Josef left his country in 1948 by taking a train from Prague to Bratislava and then skiing to Austria with three friends. After 18 months in West Germany and five years in New Zealand working as a wool buyer, he moved to California in 1955 and worked as a professor at California State University, Long Beach (Long Beach State) before his death in 1983 from colon cancer. Carlos Briceno
Carlos Martin Briceno (born August 10, 1967) is an American former volleyball player who competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, and won a bronze medal. He was known for his versatility, being able to spike from different parts of the court, including the back row. Briceno played volleyball at Fountain Valley High School, where he made the All-Southern Section. He then played college volleyball at the University of Hawaii, where he was a three-time All-American. Nick Becker
Nick Adrian Becker (born July 30, 1968, in Fullerton, California) is an American former volleyball player who played with the United States national volleyball team and won a bronze medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He was valued on the team as a great passer. High school Becker went to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, where he played soccer in his senior year and made the All-Southern Section as a half-back. He graduated from Mater Dei in 1986. College Becker played college volleyball with the University of Southern California (USC) as a walk-on, and helped the Trojans win NCAA Championship titles in 1988 and 1990. He graduated from USC in 1991 with a degree in economics, and then joined the national volleyball team. Arie Selinger
Aryeh "Lonk" Selinger (born 5 April 1937) is an Israeli volleyball manager and former player. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest volleyball coaches of all time. Selinger has served as the head coach of the USA Women's Team in the years 1975–1984, a team that would go on to win the Bronze medal in the 1982 World Championship and the Silver Medal in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, USA. Ronald ("Ron") Ferdinand Zwerver (born 6 June 1967) is a retired volleyball player from the Netherlands, who represented his native country in three consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in Volleyball at the 1988 Summer Olympics, 1988 in Seoul, South Korea. He was one of the dominant forces in Dutch volleyball in the 1990s. Zwerver was a member of the teams which won the silver medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics and the gold medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics.
