''Violets Are Blue'' is a 1986 American romantic drama film directed by Jack Fisk and starring Sissy Spacek and Kevin Kline. The film was distributed by Columbia Pictures. Plot After fifteen years of traveling around the world, a famous photographer named Gussie (Spacek) returns to the Maryland coastal resort where she grew up for a two-week break. She meets her high school sweetheart Henry (Kline), now married to a woman he met when he was away at college and running the local newspaper he has inherited from his father. Soon after, an awkward and tension-filled romance ensues. Jack Fisk (born December 19, 1945) is an American production designer and director. As a production designer, he is known for his collaborations with Terrence Malick, designing all of his first eight films including ''Badlands (film), Badlands'' (1973), ''Days of Heaven'' (1978), ''The Thin Red Line (1998 film), The Thin Red Line'' (1998), and ''The Tree of Life (film), The Tree of Life'' (2011). Annalee Jefferies is an American stage actress. Early years Jefferies' father was a ranch manager, and her mother was artistically inclined. She lived in Texas her first 11 years, then moved with her family to Australia. They returned to the United States when she was 15. Augusta Keith Dabney (October 23, 1918 – February 4, 2008) was an American actress known for her roles on many soap operas, such as the wealthy but kindly matriarch Isabelle Alden on the daytime series ''Loving (TV series), Loving''.
