Vinson is an unincorporated community in Harmon County, Oklahoma, United States. The community was named for Henry B. Vinson, townsite owner. Vinson had a post office, which was established on August 20, 1903. The post office (ZIP code 73571) was discontinued in 2017. Vinson Massif
Vinson Massif () is a large mountain massif in Antarctica that is long and wide and lies within the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains. It overlooks the Ronne Ice Shelf near the base of the Antarctic Peninsula. The massif is located about from the South Pole. Vinson Massif was discovered in January 1958 by United States Navy, U.S. Navy aircraft. In 1961, the Vinson Massif was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN), after Carl Vinson, Carl G. Vinson, United States Member of congress, congressman from the state of Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia, for his support for Antarctic Exploration, Antarctic exploration. Vinson Horace Champ (born September 12, 1961) is an American former comedian and convicted rapist. Champ was a touring comedian who had gained minor renown for winning first place in the comedy category of the 1992 edition of '' Star Search''. In 1997, he was identified as a serial rapist when his DNA and tour schedule were matched up with a series of rapes on college campuses. He is currently serving a 30-to-40-year sentence at Nebraska State Penitentiary. His projected release date is in 2033, after which he will begin two consecutive life-term sentences in Iowa. Vinson Chiu
Vinson Chiu ( ; born August 8, 1998) is an American badminton player. He won a silver medal with his partner Joshua Yuan in the men's doubles at the 2022 Pan Am Championships. Chiu also won a silver and a bronze at the 2016 Pan Am Junior Championships in the boys' doubles and mixed doubles. Chiu currently plays mixed doubles with Jennie Gai. They won their first title together at the Mexican International Challenge in 2021. The duo won the silver medal in the mixed doubles at the 2023 Pan American Games. Chiu also once partnered with Indonesian legend Tony Gunawan and they went onto win the U.S. International in 2017. Vinson Cole (born November 21, 1950) is an American operatic tenor. Early life A native of Kansas City, the tenor studied at the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City; the Philadelphia Musical Academy; and at the Curtis Institute of Music with Margaret Harshaw. Singing career He made his European debut in Angers, France in Handel's ''Acis and Galatea'' and followed that with the role of Belmonte in Mozart's ''Abduction from the Seraglio'' with the Welsh National Opera. Vinson Filyaw
Vinson Wayne Filyaw (December 15, 1969 May 3, 2021) was an American rapist, abductor, and former construction worker. He was convicted of the 2006 kidnapping and rape of 14-year-old Elizabeth Shoaf in Lugoff, South Carolina. Filyaw had held Shoaf hostage inside an underground bunker for ten days before Shoaf alerted her mother via text message from Filyaw's phone. Filyaw turned himself in to police a day after Shoaf was rescued. He was sentenced to 421 years imprisonment in 2007 and died at McCormick Correctional Institution in 2021. The case was fictionalized in the 2018 television movie '' Girl in the Bunker''. Background Prior to the abduction, Filyaw was unemployed and had been wanted on a warrant for sexual misconduct since November 2005. Vinson Knight
Vinson Knight (March 14, 1804 – July 31, 1842) was an early leader in the Latter Day Saint movement. He served as a counselor in the bishopric in Kirtland, Ohio, from 1835 to 1838, then as bishop in Adam-ondi-Ahman in Daviess County, Missouri, from 1838 to 1839, and finally as bishop of the Lower Ward in Nauvoo, Illinois, having been called by Joseph Smith through revelation to that office in January 1841. Knight served as bishop in Nauvoo until his sudden death at age 38. Early years Knight was born March 14, 1804, in Norwich, Massachusetts, to Dr Randolphus E Knight and Rizpah Lee (daughter of American Revolutionary War Captain Sherebiah Lee). Following his father's death when he was five years old, his mother moved the family to upstate New York. Robert Vinson Smith (born July 3, 1965) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the East Carolina Pirates. Smith played in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints.
