Benedict Vilakazi (soccer)
Benedict Vilakazi (born 9 August 1982 in Soweto, Gauteng) is a retired South African football (soccer) player who last played as a midfielder for Botswana Meat Commission in Botswana. He was noted as one of the smallest professional international footballers during his time (standing at a mere 1.57 m) but made up for this with a strong physical presence. He was born in Diepkloof, Soweto and is nicknamed "Tso" and "Little Napoleon" due to his leading skills. Career Vilakaz played for South Africa at the 2006 African Nations Cup in Egypt. His professional career was rocked by sex scandals with juveniles including being dragged to court on allegation of statutory rape. He was however acquitted of the charge as it was alleged that it was with consent. The complainant has since given birth to his son. He publicly apologised to soccer fans after his acquittal. Benedict Wallet Vilakazi
Benedict Wallet Vilakazi (6 January 1906 – 26 October 1947) was a South African novelist, a descendant of the Zulu royal family, and author of Romantic poetry in the Zulu language. Vilakazi was also a professor at the University of Witwatersrand, where he became the first Black South African to teach University classes to White South Africans. In 1946, Vilakazi also became the first Black South African to receive a PhD. Vilakazi Street in Soweto, which is named after the poet, is now very famous as the street where both Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu once lived. Herbert Vilakazi
Herbert W. Vilakazi (18 May 1943 in Nongoma – 26 January 2016 in Pretoria) was a South African sociologist. He was known for his opposition to South Africa's apartheid system, which motivated him to try to dismantle it from the inside by becoming a professor at the University of Transkei, despite the protests of the African National Congress. He was also a prominent critic of Western medicine, and promoted ubhejane as a treatment for HIV/AIDS. Nhlanhla Vilakazi (born 25 February 1987) is a South African professional footballer, who currently plays as either a left midfielder or left back for Premier Soccer League club Free State Stars. Club career Golden Arrows Nhlanhla Vilakazi signed with Golden Arrows on 1 July 2008, however he transferred to Bay United for an undisclosed amount in the following transfer window. Sibusiso Vilakazi (born 29 December 1989) is a South African soccer player who plays as an attacking midfielder for TS Galaxy in the Premier Soccer League.
