Vikramgad Assembly constituency is one of the 288 Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) constituencies of Maharashtra state in western India. Overview Vikramgad constituency is one of the 6 Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in the Palghar district. It is reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled tribes. It comprises the entire Vikramgad, Jawhar and Mokhada tehsils and part of Wada tehsil of the district. Vikramgad is part of the Palghar Lok Sabha constituency along with five other Vidhan Sabha segments, namely, Dahanu, Palghar, Boisar, Nalasopara and Vasai in Thane district. Nationalist Congress Party
The Nationalist Congress Party ( NCP) is one of the nine national parties in India. The party generally supports Indian nationalism and Gandhian secularism. It is the largest opposition party in Maharashtra and is also a significant party in other states. Party formation and performance The NCP was formed on 10 June 1999, by Sharad Pawar, P. A. Sangma, and Tariq Anwar after they were expelled from the Indian National Congress on 20 May 1999, for disputing the right of Italian-born Sonia Gandhi to lead the party. Wada Assembly Constituency
Wada Vidhan Sabha constituency was one of the seats in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in India. Wada is near Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar. The area under this seat is now mostly divided as a part of Bhiwandi Rural and Vikramgad Vidhan Sabha seats since 2008. Vishnu Savara, who represented this Wada seat (विष्णु सावरा, वाडा मतदारसंघ) for close to 20 years, was later elected to Vidhan Sabha from Bhiwandi Rural Assembly constituency in 2009 and from Vikramgad seat in 2014. 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Election
The 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election was held on 21 October 2019 to elect all 288 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. After a 61.4% turnout in the election, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena (SHS) won a majority. Following differences over the government formation, the alliance was dissolved, precipitating a political crisis. Since a council of ministers had not been formed after no party could manage to form the government, President's rule was imposed in the state. Vishnu Savara
Vishnu Savara (1 June 1950 – 9 December 2020) was a leader of the Indian Bharatiya Janata Party. His parents belonged to a family of farmers residing in the village of Galtare in Wada, a tehsil in Palghar district. Savara, a cabinet minister for tribal development in the government of Maharashtra, was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Wada constituency in 1990, 1995, 1999, and 2004. In 2009, after delimitation, he won the Bhiwandi Rural Vidhan Sabha election. In the 2014 assembly election, Savara won the Vikramgad Vidhan Sabha seat. Chintaman Vanaga (1 June 1950 – 30 January 2018) was an Indian politician and Adivasi leader from Maharashtra and was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was member of 16th Lok Sabha elected from Palghar (Lok Sabha constituency) alongside being a two-time Member of Parliament (India) from Dahanu (Lok Sabha Constituency). Thane district (Pronunciation: ʰaːɳe previously named Taana or Thana) is a district in the Konkan Division of Maharashtra, India.
