Vijay Madhavan is an Indian classical dancer. Early years and education A disciple of Chitra Visweswaran, Madhavan showed an acumen for classical dance from a young age. He received a degree in Zoology and obtained full-time work as a software product analyst prior to leaving the business world to concentrate fully on Bharatanatyam. Bharatanatyam In addition to owning his own dance school, he is also face of Jaya TV where he performs to the Subramanya Bharathi, Bharathiyar song ''senthamizh nadenum pothinilae'' each morning. He is a regular performer in the Bhagavata Mela Natakams and in August 2002 he won the Vasanthalakshmi - Narasimhachari Endowment Award for Talent Promotion. Chitra Visweswaran
Chitra Visweswaran is an Indian Bharata Natyam dancer who runs a dance school, the Chidambaram Academy of Performing Arts, in Chennai. She was awarded the Padma Shri, one of the top civilian honours given by the Government of India, in 1992. Early life and training Visweswaran began dancing at the age of three with her mother, Rukmini Padmanabhan, who was trained in contemporary Indian dance and Bharata Natyam. Her father was an engineer with Indian Railways, and when his job took the family to London, Chitra began to study classical ballet. Later, in Kolkata, she trained in the Manipuri and Kathak dance forms. At the age of ten, she went under the tutelage of T.A. Rajalakshmi, one of the best devadasis from Thiruvidaimarudur, who had settled in Kolkata. Vidushi R. Vedavalli (born 9th November 1935) is a Carnatic vocalist. Early life R. Vedavalli was born in Mannargudi, Tamil Nadu, India to Ramaswami Iyengar and Padmasani Ammal. Career R. Vedavalli's talent for music was identified early on by Madurai Srirangam Iyengar, who brought the five-year-old a harmonium, and got her started on vocal lessons. The family moved to Madras in a few years time, and Vedavalli came under the tutelage of Mudicondan Venkatarama Iyer. She received a Central Government scholarship to specialize in Padams and Javalis with T.Muktha, and in Pallavis with Venkataramana Iyer.
