Victoria Spackman
Victoria Ursula Spackman is a New Zealand creative director and business executive. Life Spackman grew up in Wellington and London. She attended Victoria University of Wellington and graduated with degrees in law and arts, majoring in languages, film and theatre. In the late 1990s, she worked on numerous Fringe Festival plays as a producer and director, and in 2002 she became chair of the board of BATS Theatre. She held the position until 2014, during which time she led the theatre's renovation and expansion. Following graduation, Spackman practiced employment and litigation law in Auckland and Wellington, including the firms Cullen Law and Buddle Findlay. In 2003 she joined South Pacific Pictures as their Legal and Business Affairs manager. In 2006 she served as a Business Advisor for Kura Productions and Australia's SLP Productions, both joint ventures with South Pacific Pictures. It was established in 1897 by Act of Parliament, and was a constituent college of the University of New Zealand. BATS Theatre
BATS Theatre is a theatre venue in Wellington, New Zealand. Initially founded as the Bats Theatre Company in 1976, then established in its current form in 1989. BATS Theatre has seen the development of many performing arts talents of New Zealand. ''New Zealand Idol'', also known as ''NZ Idol'', was the New Zealand version of the Idol series originated as the hit British TV series ''Pop Idol''. New Zealand first saw the ''Idol'' format when TV2 aired '' American Idol 2'', which garnered impressive ratings. After ''Australian Idol'' also received good ratings in New Zealand, TVNZ decided to order the first season of ''NZ Idol'', which was broadcast on TV2. The New Zealand Women of Influence Awards are an annual set of awards which recognise women who make a difference to everyday New Zealanders' lives. The Awards were first made in 2013 and were initially sponsored by Westpac Bank. In 2016, Stuff NZ became a joint sponsor. Nominations are invited from the public. A panel selects finalists in each category, who are invited to an awards dinner at the Aotea Centre in Auckland where the recipients are announced. The New Zealand Order of Merit is an order of merit in the New Zealand royal honours system.
