Vice President Of The Presidency Of Yugoslavia
The office of the vice president of the Presidency of the SFR Yugoslavia existed from the enactment of constitutional amendments establishing the position in 1971 until the dissolution of the country by 1992. A collective presidency existed in Yugoslavia since amendments to the constitution in 1971. The amendments established the roles of President and Vice President within the collective Presidency which would rotate between individual republics and provinces on an annual basis. However, it also defined a separate title of President of the Republic which could be conferred by the Federal Assembly into Josip Broz Tito who would automatically preside over the Presidency as well (and thus delay the implementation of the President of the Presidency role). The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, commonly referred to as SFR Yugoslavia or simply as Yugoslavia, was a country in Central and Southeast Europe. It emerged in 1945, following World War II, and lasted until 1992, with the breakup of Yugoslavia occurring as a consequence of the Yugoslav Wars. Cvijetin "Majo" Mijatović ( sr-cyr, Цвијетин Мајо Мијатовић; 8 January 1913 – 15 November 1993) was a Yugoslav communist politician who served as President of the Collective Presidency of Yugoslavia from 1980 until 1981. Fadil Hoxha ( Serbian: Фадиљ Хоџа, ''Fadilj Hodža''; 15 March 1916 – 21 April 2001) was a Yugoslavian ethnic Albanian communist revolutionary and politician from Kosovo. He was a member of the Communist party and fought in the Yugoslav Partisans during World War II. Stevan Doronjski (26 September 1919 – 14 August 1981) was a Yugoslav civil servant from Serbia who served as President of the Presidency of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, the ruling party of the nation. Doronjski was born in 1919 in the village of Krčedin in the Srem region of Serbia to a peasant family. He studied veterinary medicine at the University of Belgrade and joined the Communist Party in 1939. He fought with the Partisans in World War II and after the war held a number of political posts in the newly-formed Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
