Vi Bygger Landet
''Vi bygger landet'' (We Build the Country) is a Norwegian film from 1936, directed by Olav Dalgard. The film is a so-called "workers' film" that was created on behalf of the Workers' Educational Association (, AOF) to motivate voters in the cities to vote for the Labor Party in the parliamentary elections in 1936. Together with '' Norge for folket'' (1936) and '' By og land hand i hand'' (1937), it is part of the so-called workers' film trilogy. Olav Dalgard
Olav Dalgard (June 19, 1898 – December 25, 1980) was a Norwegian literary and art historian, filmmaker, author and educator. Biography Dalgard was born Olaf Hanssen in Folldal, in Hedmark, Norway. From the age of three, he was raised at Oppdal in Trøndelag. He earned an M.A. degree in literature and art history at the University of Oslo in 1929. He was an advocate of the use of Nynorsk and served as the chairman of the student Nynorsk association. He was also involved in the Mot Dag movement. Dalgard worked as a literary critic for the newspapers ''Dagbladet'' and ''Arbeiderbladet''. Dalgard took over as dramatic advisor and instructor for Det Norske Teateret in 1931 and was involved with the theater for 48 years. He studied film in the Soviet Union and in the 1930s produced several films with a socialist message. Dalgard was also active in the Norwegian Labour Party's cultural operations. ''By og land hand i hand'' (Town and Country Hand in Hand) is a 1937 Norway, Norwegian drama film written and directed by Olav Dalgard, starring Hans Bille and Lars Tvinde. The film was made by the Norwegian Labour Party for the 1937 Norwegian local elections, 1937 local elections. Plot The wealthy landowner Hans Bjørnstad (Bille) is approached by his workers for a raise, but is shocked by their radical socialist ideas. Later he talks to another landowner, Nils Tveit (Tvinde), who is more sympathetic to the workers' case. Through conversations with family members in Oslo, the two realise the advantages Labour government has brought, and the necessity of cooperation between town and country for the prosperity of the country. Tryggve Larssen
Tryggve Larssen (October 3, 1887 – June 28, 1967) was a Norwegian actor. Larssen debuted as an actor in Ludovica Levy's touring theatre in 1911, after which he was engaged with the National Theater in Bergen and the Norwegian Theater in Oslo. He was then engaged with the National Theater in Oslo from 1921 to 1961. As an actor specializing in comic roles, Larssen made a name for himself in annual Christmas performances, including as the first-ever Santa Claus in the play '' Reisen til Julestjernen'' (Journey to the Christmas Star) in 1924. He also played supporting roles in numerous plays by Ludvig Holberg, Henrik Ibsen, and William Shakespeare. Larssen performed on stage until well into retirement age, and his last theater role was as Lavrans in the play ''Guds Gjøglere'' by Odd Eidem. Jens Holstad
Jens Holstad (January 30, 1889 – October 6, 1961) was a Norwegian actor. Holstad was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), and he made his stage debut in 1906 at the Fahlstrøm Theater. He made his film debut in 1912 in Adam Eriksen's film '' Anny – en gatepiges roman''. He was most active in the 1930s and 1940s, and he appeared in a total of twelve film roles, with his last in ''Ti gutter og en gjente'' in 1944. Alongside films, Holstad was also active in theater, where he was involved with the New Theater from the 1920s to the 1950s. He also performed at the National Theater in Oslo. Holstad also recorded gramophone records.
