Very Proud Of Ya
''Very Proud of Ya'' is the second studio album by American rock band AFI. It was released on June 18, 1996, through Nitro Records. Background The liner notes of the album state that all the tracks are copyrighted to Anthems for Insubordinates, while the mailing address states the band's name as Asking for It. It is the last album to feature bassist Geoff Kresge, who illustrated the album cover as well. The album features future band member Jade Puget performing back-up vocals. It was recorded in about a week. The tracks "Two of a Kind" and "Yürf Rendenmein" were re-recorded from their debut album ''Answer That and Stay Fashionable''. The title of "Love is a Many Splendored Thing" is a reference to the song of the same name by Sammy Fain and Paul Francis Webster, although it is not a cover. AFI (abbreviation for A Fire Inside) is an American rock band from Ukiah, California, formed in 1991. Since 1998, it consists of lead vocalist Davey Havok, drummer and backing vocalist Adam Carson, bassist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Hunter Burgan, and guitarist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Jade Puget. Havok and Carson are the sole remaining original members. Originally a hardcore punk band, they have since delved into many genres, starting with horror punk and following through post-hardcore and emo into alternative rock and gothic rock. Adam Alexander Carson (born February 5, 1975) is the drummer of the alternative rock band AFI (band), AFI. He and Davey Havok are the two original members left in the lineup. Carson also filled in as drummer for the psychobilly band Tiger Army. His drumming can be found on Tiger Army's ''Early Years EP'' as well as their debut album ''Tiger Army (album), Tiger Army''. ''Mary Jane's Not a Virgin Anymore'' is an independent film written, directed, and produced by the self-anointed "Queen of Underground Film", Sarah Jacobson. It's a film about a teenage girl in the Twin Cities Area named Mary Jane who is curious about sex and thinks that by having sex, she will become cool. It focuses on the female perspective of sex. Paul Francis Webster (December 20, 1907 – March 18, 1984) was an American lyricist who won three Academy Awards for Best Original Song, and was nominated sixteen times for the award. Life and career Webster was born in New York City, United States, the son of Myron Lawrence Webster and Blanche Pauline Stonehill Webster. His family was Jewish. His father was born in Augustów, Poland. Sammy Fain (born Samuel E. Feinberg; June 17, 1902 – December 6, 1989) was an American composer of popular music. In the 1920s and early 1930s, he contributed numerous songs that form part of The Great American Songbook, and to Broadway theatre. Fain was also a popular musician and vocalist. Jade Errol Puget (born November 28, 1973) is an American musician and producer, best known as the guitarist for the rock band AFI (joined in 1998), the guitarist/writer for the straight edge hardcore band XTRMST, and the keyboardist/synthesizer operator for the electronic duo Blaqk Audio. Puget is vegetarian and straight edge. Career Before joining AFI on November 2, 1998, Jade Puget played in various bands, including Loose Change and Redemption 87.
