Verona, Italy
Verona ( , ; vec, Verona or ) is a city on the Adige River in Veneto, Italy, with 258,031 inhabitants. It is one of the seven provincial capitals of the region. It is the largest city municipality in the region and the second largest in northeastern Italy. The metropolitan area of Verona covers an area of and has a population of 714,310 inhabitants. The Veronese Riddle ( it, Indovinello veronese) is a riddle written in late Vulgar Latin, or early Romance languages, Romance, on the Verona Orational, probably in the 8th or early 9th century, by a Nicene Christianity, Christian monastery, monk from Verona, in northern Italy. It is an example of a writing-riddle, a popular genre in the Middle Ages and still in circulation in recent times. Discovered by Luigi Schiaparelli in 1924, it may be the earliest extant example of Romance writing in Italy. Monte Veronese
Monte Veronese is an Italian cheese made from cow's milk which is produced in the northern part of the Province of Verona, more specifically in the Lessini mountains or the Veronese prealps. Like Asiago it comes in two varieties, one fresh and one matured. Monte Veronese was awarded Italian '' Denominazione di Origine'' status in 1993 and European Protected designation of origin ( it, DOP) status in 1996. In mathematics, the Veronese surface is an algebraic surface in five-dimensional projective space, and is realized by the Veronese embedding, the embedding of the projective plane given by the complete linear system of conics. It is named after Giuseppe Veronese (1854–1917). Its generalization to higher dimension is known as the Veronese variety. Veronese (typeface)
Veronese (series 59) was a typeface of the Monotype company in the UK made to be used for type casting in hot metal typography It was cut in 1911 for the publisher J. M. Dent, the owner of the Everyman's Library. It was based on another foundry-type made for this publisher. Both founts were based on an old Venetian roman type made by Nicolas Jenson. The typeface was launched in 1912 in a collection of the poems of Lorenzo De Medici which was published by Ballantyne Press. This font was also the basis for William Morris and his Golden Type. Dent admired Morris and his Golden type, and the way Morris tried to implement his ideas on printing. Dent however wanted to use machines to produce the type for his trade editions for his Everyman's Library. In this way he was able to take Morris's socialist principles in a more practical way, compared with the bibliophile editions of the Klemscott press. Angela Veronese
Angela Veronese (20 December 1778 - 8 October 1847) was an Italian poet. Biography Angela Veronese was born in Montebelluna, 20 December 1778. Her parents were Pietro Rinaldo and Lucia. When she was very young, she moved first to Treviso (in the villa of Ca 'Zenobio), and then to Venice where she contracted smallpox. In Venice, she was expelled from a female college. She remained in Venice under the auspices of the Zenobio counts, on whose behalf her family worked. In this period, she became fond of poetry, beginning to compose sonnets and other rhymes, which she collected under the name of Aglaia Anassillide (or Aglaja Anassillide), taken from the Arcadian tradition. Veronese is one of the significant writers in the history of early nineteenth-century Italian literature and is therefore registered in "Le Autrici della Letteratura Italiana" (The Authors of Italian Literature).
