Verne Langdon
Vernon Loring "Verne" Langdon (September 15, 1941 – January 1, 2011) was an American mask maker, musician, magician, circus clown, make-up artist, and wrestler. He was also a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. Biography Born in Oakland, California, Langdon was known in cult monster mask circles as the creative force behind the Don Post Studios "Calendar Masks" (1963 to 1968). He was also the creator of the most sought-after collector's mask, "The Zombie", and was creator-producer of the cult classic Decca LP ''An Evening With Boris Karloff And His Friends''. With Jay Stein and Terry Winnick he created The Land of a Thousand Faces Makeup Show in 1975 and the Castle Dracula horror show in 1980 for Universal Studios Tour, Hollywood, California. He has produced, written, performed and recorded thirty one albums for two record labels, Electric Lemon Record Co., and Dejavu Record Company. Don Post
Donald Post (March 14, 1902 – November 17, 1979), dubbed by many as The Godfather of Halloween, created and sold some of the first rubber masks, which remain popular today. Career In the 1970s, Post made masks of such actors as Tor Johnson and William Shatner, the latter of which was slightly altered in the 1978 film, ''Halloween'', into the infamous Michael Myers mask. Monsterpalooza is an American multigenre convention focusing on horror, creatures and makeup work. The convention takes place every spring in Los Angeles, California, most recently in the Pasadena Convention Center. A smaller offshoot convention, "Son of Monsterpalooza" is held in Burbank in the fall. History After a successful trial run in New Jersey in 2008, Monsterpalooza was organized on the West Coast by Eliot Brodsky in 2009, and held at the Marriott Burbank Convention Center. It has been held annually since then, and usually takes place in March, April or May.
