''Verano de Escándalo'' (2009) was a professional wrestling event produced by Lucha Libre AAA World Wide, AAA, which took place on August 21, 2009 in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, Mexico. It was the 13th event in the ''Verano de Escándalo'' chronology and featured seven matches. Production Background First held during the summer of 1997 the Mexican professional wrestling, wrestling promotion, company Lucha Libre AAA World Wide, AAA began holding a major wrestling show during the summer, most often in September, called ''Verano de Escándalo'' ("Summer of Scandal"). Wrestling Mask
A wrestling mask is a fabric-based mask that some professional wrestlers wear as part of their in-ring persona or gimmick. Professional wrestlers have been using masks as far back as 1915 and they are still widely used today, especially in Lucha Libre in Mexico. History At the 1865 World's Fair, Theobaud Bauer debuted the mask, wrestling as "The Masked Wrestler" in Paris, France. He continued wrestling using the mask throughout France as part of a circus troupe in the 1860s before moving on to the United States in the early 1870s. In 1915, Mort Henderson started wrestling as the "Masked Marvel" in the New York area making him the first North American wrestler to perform with such a gimmick. Alex Sherman (born January 21, 1984) is a Moldovan-born retired professional wrestler and color commentator, currently working for New Japan Pro-Wrestling under the ring name Alex Koslov. Takuya Sugi
is a Japanese professional wrestler from Shizuoka. He currently works in Pro Wrestling Zero1 (Zero1) as Sugi (stylized in all capital letters), but he has used many aliases, most commonly Yoshitsune and Sugi, through his career in many Japanese promotions. Rafael Ramírez Solorza (born February 24, 1976) is a Mexican ''Luchador'', better known by the ring name Monster Clown and previously worked as Aliens between 2004 and 2007 before adopting his current ring name. Los Psycho Circus is a '' Lucha libre'', or professional wrestling, trio who worked for the Mexico City based Lucha Libre AAA World Wide (AAA) as a '' tecnico'' (good guy) team. The trio consists of three '' enmascarado'', or masked, wrestlers known under the ring names Psycho Clown, Monster Clown and Murder Clown.
