Archibald L. Mayo (January 29, 1891 – December 4, 1968) was a film director, screenwriter and actor. Early years The son of a tailor, Mayo was born in New York City. After attending the city's public schools, he studied at Columbia University. Film Mayo moved to Hollywood in 1915 and began working as a director in 1917. His films include ''Is Everybody Happy? Jack Holt (actor)
Charles John Holt, Jr. (May 31, 1888 – January 18, 1951) was an American motion picture actor who was prominent in both silent and sound movies, particularly Westerns. Early life Holt was born in 1888 in the Fordham section of The Bronx, New York, the son of an Episcopal priest at St. James Church. When in Manhattan, he attended Trinity School. He was accepted into the Virginia Military Institute in 1909, but expelled for misbehavior in his second semester there. Following Holt's father's death, the family moved to New York City, where Jack, his mother, and brother Marshall lived with his married sister, Frances. Holt worked at various jobs including construction of the Pennsylvania Railroad's tunnel under the Hudson River and being a "surveyor, laborer, prospector, trapper, and stagecoach driver, among many other jobs" during an almost six-year stay in Alaska. Dorothy Revier (born Doris Valerga; April 18, 1904 – November 19, 1993) was an American actress. Early years Born as Doris Valerga in San Francisco on April 18, 1904, Revier was one of five siblings of the famous Valerga performing family of the Bay Area. Her mother was English and her father was Italian. She was educated in the public schools of Oakland before going to New York City to study classical dancing. Career Revier danced with a Russian ballet company on tour, but homesickness brought her back to San Francisco, where she became the featured dancer at Tait's Cafe. She was discovered by a talent agent while working in a cabaret and signed to a film contract by Harry Cohn. George C. Pearce (June 26, 1865 – August 13, 1940) was an American stage and film actor, primarily of the silent era. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1914 and 1939. He was born in New York, New York, and died in Los Angeles, California. He was also known as George C. Pierce. Pearce also acted on stage, including portraying a doctor in ''White Cargo'' in Los Angeles in 1927. On Broadway, he acted in ''The Rainbow'' (1912), ''Billy'' (1909), ''The Mimic World'' (1908), ''D'Arcy of the Guards'' (1901), ''Manon Lescaut'' (1901), ''Brother Officers'' (1900), and ''Lord and Lady Algy'' (1899). Onest Conley (December 6, 1906 – October 8, 1989) was an American film actor. Early life Born in Evanston, Illinois, his mother was the pioneering African-American film actress Madame Sul-Te-Wan (''née'' Nellie Crawford) and his father was Robert Reed Conley. He had two brothers; Odel and Otto. His father abandoned the family shortly after Conley's birth, leaving his actress mother to raise the three boys. Career Like his mother, Onest Conley gravitated toward the acting profession and began taking bit parts in films. His first film appearance was a minor role in the 1926 Frank Borzage-directed ''The Dixie Merchant,'' a film adaptation of the Barry Benefield novel ''The Chicken-Wagon Family.''
