The 2nd constituency of Vas County ( hu, Vas megyei 02. számú országgyűlési egyéni választókerület) is one of the single member constituencies of the National Assembly, the national legislature of Hungary. The constituency standard abbreviation: ''Vas 02. OEVK''. Since 2014, it has been represented by Péter Ágh of the Fidesz–KDNP party alliance. Geography The 2nd constituency is located in northern part of Vas County. Sárvár
Sárvár (german: Kotenburg or ; la, Bassiana; sl, Mala Sela) is a town in Vas County, Hungary. Sárvár lies on the banks of the River Rába at Kemeneshát. The population is nearly 16,000. The town has become a tourist centre of international renown. Etymology ''Sár'' means "mud" in Hungarian, and ''vár'' means "castle". The latter is a common ending for settlement names. History During the World War II, Sárvár was used as a centre for the internment for Polish soldiers who had arrived in Hungary in 1939. Later, during the World War II, Sárvár was used as a concentration camp for the internment for thousands of Serb families expelled by Hungarian soldiers from their homes in northern Serbia in 1941. Now, there is a monument and graveyard for hundreds of Serbs who died in Sárvár concentration camp. Celldömölk
Celldömölk (german: Kleinmariazell) is the fifth largest town in Vas County, Hungary. Parts of the Eragon movie were filmed here. The town with 11,000 inhabitants can be found in the centre of Kemenesalja Hills. History Celldömölk has a history older than 750 years. On the western boundaries of the town, there are the remains of the abbey built in the 12th century in Roman style. Before World War II, there was a large Jewish community. Most of the Jews in the community were deported by the Hungarian Nyilaskeresztes Párt as part of the Hungarian cleansing during The Holocaust. On 7 October 1944 the 2nd BG was seeking a target of opportunity bombed the railroad junction with 5 x 1,000 GP bombs. The B-17's were returning from the primary at Wien-Lobau Shell oil blending plant which was partially obscured. Jákfa
Jákfa is a village located in Vas County in western Hungary with an area of 20.11 km² and a population of 540. Jákfa is 35 km from Szombathely. The settlement's name first appears in a document from 1211, but it may be of much earlier origin. St. George's church, built in the 13th century by the Ják clan, as well as nearby St. James's chapel, are internationally recognized edifices of the late Romanesque style. The foundations of the clan's castle and donjon, erected in the period of the Árpád dynasty, have recently been uncovered and identified on the site of the former abbey. Several residences of the 18th and 19th centuries can be found in the village. Ják was once famous for its potteries. Csepreg
Csepreg (German: ''Schapring; Croatian: Čepreg'') is a town in Vas County, Hungary. It is the largest town on the Répce River. The current mayor of the town is Zoltán Horváth, elected on November 13, 2019. Although tourism, particularly camping and fishing, are important sources of income for the town, a plan for the establishment of a metal finishing factory was accepted by the council after the first plan had been rejected.
