Van Der Nootska Palace
Van der Nootska Palace ( sv, van der Nootska palatset) is a palace located at Sankt Paulsgatan 21 in Södermalm, Stockholm, Sweden. The house was built in 1671-1672 by architect Mathias Spieler for the Dutch-born Swedish military officer Thomas van der Noot. The facade has pilasters and festoons and the middle part is decorated with mermaids in the sandstone. Two wings frame a small garden. The building was first used as a residence for various Dutch ministers. In 1740, a second building was erected that was used as a church for the Dutch Reformed Church. In 1770 it was made into a tobacco factory. In the late 19th century the building was in disrepair and was threatened with demolition. The house was saved by Jean Jahnsson, owner of C.G. Hallberg, who turned it into a private residence. Architects for the renovation and expansion in 1903-1910 were IG Clason and Agi Lindegren. André Vandernoot (born 2 June 1927, Brussels; died 6 November 1991, Brussels) was a Belgian conductor. He studied at the Royal Music Conservatory in Brussels, and later flute and conducting at the Hochschule für Musik, Vienna. In 1951, he was a prize-winner in a conducting competition in Besançon, France. From 1959 to 1973, Vandernoot was conductor and artistic director of La Monnaie. For the 1974-1975 season, he was artistic director of the Belgian National Orchestra. From 1975 to 1983, he was chief conductor of deFilharmonie ( Antwerp), which is now called Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. He was also director of the Noord Philharmonic Orchestra ( Haarlem) from 1978 to 1979. From 1979 to 1989, he was chief conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the RTBF in Brussels. Dino Betti van der Noot (born 1936) is an Italian jazz composer. Biography Van der Noot was born in Rapallo. His mother and cousin were classical pianists. He studied at Scuola Musicale of Pavia, 1946–51; in 1959 studied privately in Milan and in the 1970s at Berklee College of Music In Italy, he led combos from 1957–1960, but was not active in music in the 1960s. Thomas van der Noot (1630 - 1677) was a Dutch military figure who served in the Swedish army. Born in Brabant, he came to Sweden with his mother in the 1650s and married a Swedish noble lady.
