Valters And Kaža
Valters and Kaža, known internationally as Walters and Kazha, were a Latvian music duo consisting of Valters Frīdenbergs and Kārlis Būmeisters. They were best known for representing in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "The War Is Not Over", written by Mārtiņš Freimanis, finishing in fifth place with 153 points. Career 2005: Eurovision Song Contest On 26 February 2005, the duo were selected to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, held in Kyiv, Ukraine. In the semi-final, which was held two days before the final, they performed fifth, following 's Zdob și Zdub and preceding 's Lise Darly. They qualified in tenth place with 85 points. At the after-party, Valters lost his voice and subsequently, at the dress rehearsal, he did not sing the entire song. I Hear Your Heart
Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "I Hear Your Heart" written by Andris Sējāns, Reinis Sējāns, Guntars Račs and Molly-Ann Leikin. The song was performed by the group Cosmos. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organised the national final ''Eirodziesma 2006'' in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece. Twenty songs were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of three shows: two semi-finals and a final. Cosmos (band)
Cosmos was a Latvian a cappella band that formed in Riga in 2002. The band comprised singers Jānis Šipkēvics, Andris Sējāns (both countertenors), Juris Lisenko (tenor), Jānis Ozols (baritone), Jānis Strazdiņš ( bass) and Reinis Sējāns (rhythm). Cosmos gained national and international recognition after they were chosen to represent Latvia in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest held in Athens, Greece with the song "I Hear Your Heart". Latvia In The Eurovision Song Contest
Latvia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 22 times since making its debut at the contest in 2000, where the group Brainstorm finished third with the song " My Star". Latvia won the contest in 2002, with Marie N and the song " I Wanna", defeating Malta by 12 points. Latvia is the second former Soviet country to win the contest. Latvia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "Dziesma par laimi" written by Tomass Kleins and Guntars Račs. The song was performed by Fomins and Kleins. The Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija (LTV) organised the national final ''Eirodziesma 2004'' in order to select the Latvian entry for the 2004 contest in Istanbul, Turkey. Ten songs were selected to compete in the national final on 28 February 2004 where two rounds of public televoting selected "Dziesma par laimi" performed by Fomins and Kleins as the winner. This was the first time that the Latvian song was performed in the Latvian language at the Eurovision Song Contest. Fomins & Kleins
Fomins & Kleins was a Latvian rock group formed in 2002. Its members Ivo Fomins and Tomass Kleins were already accomplished and recognized rock musicians. Both are from the western Latvian port city of Liepāja. Previous collaborations Both have worked together previously, in Soviet times forming the underground group "Saldās sejas" (Sweet Faces), which also featured well known Latvian musicians Zigfrīds Muktupāvels and Guntars Račs — with whom a creative relationship continues to this day, since Račs himself is the author of the lyrics to all of Fomins & Kleins' songs. Valters Frīdenbergs
Valters Frīdenbergs (26 October 1987 – 17 October 2018) was a Latvian musician, singer and TV-presenter. He was best known for representing Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 as part of Valters and Kaža duo with the song "The War Is Not Over", written by Mārtiņš Freimanis, finishing in fifth place with 153 points. In , Valters made a solo effort to represent with his song "For A Better Tomorrow" but failed to qualify from the semi-final. Two years later he became the Latvian commentator of the Eurovision Song Contest succeeding Kārlis Streips. He filled this role until his illness and subsequent death. Valters was also Latvia's spokesperson at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. On 17 October 2018, it was announced that Valters Frīdenbergs had died of a two-year long battle with cancer. Lise Darly
Lise Darly (born 27 December 1981) is a French singer and was selected to represent Monaco in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, held in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. Lise was born in Nice. She made her mark by beating over a hundred rivals to win the ''Graine de Star Tour'' in 1999. She subsequently became a professional singer in 2001, and in 2003 entered a casting process designed to find a suitable singer to represent Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, Lise Darly came second in the process. She was later selected to represent Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005.
