Valeriy Babych
Valeriy Georgievich Babych (25 August 1953 – 29 October 2020) was a Ukrainian politician, economist and businessman who served as a member of the Verkhovna Rada from 1994 to 2002. Biography Babych was born in Brody, Lviv Oblast, and studied in Kyiv. After graduation, he worked at the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, youth organizations, the State Plan of Ukraine, the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1990, he founded and headed the company "Inter-Invest", and in 1991 he was elected Chairman of the Board of RAO "Ukrainian Exchange". The following year, after the reorganization of RAO "Ukrainian Exchange" into JSC "Ukrainian Financial Group", he was elected as its president. In 1993-1994 he served as adviser to the President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk on market economy issues, and the 1994 Ukrainian parliamentary election, 1994 and 1998 Ukrainian parliamentary election he was elected to the Ukrainian parliament. All-Ukrainian Union "Cherkashchany" ( uk, Всеукраїнське об'єднання «Черкащани») is a regional political party in Cherkasy Oblast, Ukraine. It was registered on November 23, 1992. Until 2006, the party was known as Christian-Democratic Party of Ukraine ( uk, Християнсько-демократична партія України) and had links with the Christian Liberal Party of Ukraine of Leonid Chernovetskyi (Leonid Chernovetskyi Bloc). The COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The virus was confirmed to have spread to Ukraine when the country's first case was confirmed to be hospitalized in Chernivtsi Oblast on 3 March 2020, a man who had travelled from Italy to Romania by plane and then arrived in Ukraine by car. An emergency was declared on 20 March 2020 in Kyiv Oblast, Chernivtsi Oblast, Zhytomyr Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, and the city of Kyiv. New infections and deaths started to break records by late October 2021. By then, a total of 2.8 million coronavirus cases and 64,936 COVID-19 related deaths had occurred in Ukraine.
