Valeri Gennadyevich Chupin (russian: Валерий Геннадьевич Чупин; born 18 June 1961) is a Russian professional football coach and a former player. Career Chupin was a product of Dynamo Barnaul's youth system and he made his debut in the Soviet Second League with the club. Chupin moved to Rotor Volgograd where he became the club's all-time record holder for number of Soviet First League appearances and after the club won promotion to the Soviet Top League in 1998, he made 20 appearances in the 1989 season. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders.
