Valencian Pilota
Valencian pilota ( ca-valencia, pilota valenciana "Valencian ball") is a traditional handball sport played in the Valencian Community. Its origins are not known. Rules variations within the generic ''Pilota Valenciana'' category are frequent from area to area but the common trait is that the ball is struck with a bare, or almost bare, hand (only minimal protection is applied in some versions of the sport). The general rule involves two teams made from two up to five players each (the numbers depend on the particular version played). Exceptionally, individual matches are also played (mostly in Escala i corda and Raspall) between the most renowned players. The second characteristic is that it is not played against a wall. Instead, similar to modern tennis, two individuals or teams are placed face to face separated either by a line on the ground or a net in all of modern modalities except for the frontó. The physics of a bouncing ball concerns the physical behaviour of bouncing balls, particularly its motion before, during, and after impact against the surface of another body. Several aspects of a bouncing ball's behaviour serve as an introduction to mechanics in high school or undergraduate level physics courses. In 2005 the retired ''pilotaris'' Alfred Hernando ( ''Fredi''), Daniel Ribera ( ''Ribera II'') and the trinquet owner Emili Peris, joined to create a brand new company that professionalized this old sport's environment: Assured minimal fees for the players, physical preparation, a number of weekly matches for everyone, levelled competitions and challenging exhibitions for bettings. Nou Televisió (), or simply Nou (Valencian for "nine" or "new"), previously known as Canal Nou ("Channel Nine" or "New Channel"), was a public television station in the Valencian Community, Spain. Valencian Frontó
Frontó () is a modified Valencian pilota version of the original Basque Pelota game. The name ''frontó'' refers both to the game, ball and the playing area. Unlike some of the more popular Valencian Pilota rules, ''frontó'' is an indirect game, that is, players do not stand face-to-face but share a common playing area. History The first ''frontó'' in Valencia is dated in the late 1800s, and was called the "Jai Alai" (Basque for ''joyful party''). On 12 June 1894 the newspaper ''El Mercantil'' announced one of the first matches with 4 Basque players. Galotxa
Galotxa () is a variety of pilota that is always played in the street, whether artificial or natural, practiced mostly in the northern counties of the Xúquer river. In the evolution of the various Valencian pilota forms, Galotxa would be immediate precursor of the Escala i corda (a net in the center of the court, starting the game with the ''ferida'', and the ball can bounce only once on the ground), but without the stairs nor ''llotgetes'' (in natural streets galleries neither exist). There are only amateur players, although many professionals ''pilotaris'' (pilota players) of ''Escala i corda'' began in Galotxa, such as Álvaro. Playing area Galotxa games are played on the street.
