VEB Deutsche Schallplatten
The VEB Deutsche Schallplatten was the monopolistic music publisher in the German Democratic Republic from the 1950s until the 1980s. On August 12, 1946, the German singer and actor Ernst Busch got permission by Soviet military administration to institute a publishing house for music. On February 3, 1947, Busch started the company ''Lied Der Zeit GmbH'' with the music labels Amiga, Eterna and Lied Der Zeit. On April 1, 1953, the private GmbH-company had to change to a state-controlled VEB (Volkseigener Betrieb, "People-owned enterprise"). On March 18, 1955, the ''VEB Lied Der Zeit'' was renamed to ''VEB Deutsche Schallplatten Berlin''. In 1990, it became Deutsche Schallplatten GmbH Berlin (DSB). Volkseigener Betrieb
The Publicly Owned Enterprise (german: Volkseigener Betrieb; abbreviated VEB) was the main legal form of industrial enterprise in East Germany. They were all publicly owned and were formed after Nationalisation#Germany, mass nationalisation between 1945 and the early 1960s, and the handing back in 1954 of some 33 enterprises previously taken by the Soviet Union as War reparations, reparations. UC Compander
The UC compander system (with "UC" derived from Universal Compatible or Universal Compander) is a noise reduction system for vinyl records, aiming at highest playback compatibility even without corresponding UC expander. Overview The UC compander system was developed in the 1980s by (ZWT) of (RFT) in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR). The system was based on the observation that the dynamic range of typical audio source material almost always needs to be reduced in the vinyl mastering process and that very similar system parameters are commonly applied in the process either by the sound engineer or through the hardware.
