V. John Krehbiel
Victor John Krehbiel (1905–1997) was the head of the Republican Party of California, and served as the American ambassador to Finland (1973–1975), a position he was accused of buying with campaign contributions. He was appointed to other political positions by both the Eisenhower and Nixon administrations. Early life and education Krehbiel was born on a horse farm near Hutchinson, Kansas. He attended McPherson High School in McPherson, Kansas but graduated from Hutchinson High School (Kansas) in Hutchinson, Kansas. He graduated from the University of Kansas. Krehbiel was married Betty, and the pair moved to Pasadena, California. Career In 1943, he joined Aetna Life Insurance, and in 1943 earned the Chartered Life Underwriter, which is the equivalent of a master's degree in insurance. Val Peterson
Frederick Valdemar Erastus Peterson (July 18, 1903 – October 17, 1983), also known as Val Peterson, was an American politician and diplomat who served as the 26th governor of Nebraska from 1947 to 1953, as director of the Federal Civil Defense Administration from 1953 to 1957, U.S. ambassador to Denmark from 1957 to 1961, and U.S. Ambassador to Finland from 1969 to 1973. Early life and education Peterson was born in Oakland, Nebraska the son of Henry C. Peterson and Hermanda (Swanberg) Peterson. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayne State Teachers College and a Master of Arts degree in political science from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Goodwin Knight
Goodwin Jess "Goodie" Knight (December 9, 1896 – May 22, 1970) was an American politician who served as the 31st governor of California from 1953 until 1959. A member of the Republican Party, he previously was the 35th lieutenant governor of California from 1947 to 1953 under Earl Warren. Upon Warren's appointment as Chief Justice of the United States by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Knight assumed the governorship before being elected in his own right in 1954. Ambassadors Of The United States To Finland
This is a list of ambassadors of the United States to Finland. Until 1917 Finland had been a subject of Russia as the Grand Duchy of Finland. As a result of the Bolshevist October Revolution in Russia, Finland declared its independence on December 6, 1917. On December 22 (January 4, 1918 N. S.), the highest Soviet executive body approved a decree recognizing Finland’s independence. The United States recognized Finland as an independent state on May 7, 1919. A U.S. legation was established in Helsinki and the first envoy, Alexander R. Magruder, presented his credentials as ''Chargé d'Affaires'' to the government of Finland on March 19, 1920. United States–Finland relations have been continuous since that time except for a brief period in 1944–45 when the U.S. severed relations during World War II. Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr. ( ; born Leslie Lynch King Jr.; July 14, 1913December 26, 2006) was an American politician who served as the 38th president of the United States from 1974 to 1977. He was the only president never to have been elected to the office of president or vice president as well as the only president to date from Michigan.
