Uğur Mumcu
Uğur Mumcu (; 22 August 1942 – 24 January 1993) um:ag was a Turkish people, Turkish investigative journalist for the daily ''Cumhuriyet''. He was assassinated by a bomb placed in his car outside his home. Biography Uğur Mumcu was born the third of four siblings in Kırşehir. He went to school in Ankara and in 1961 attended Ankara University, Law School, School of Law at Ankara University. Graduating in 1965 he initially began his career practicing law. In 1969 he ended his legal career to return to his alma mater; working as a teaching assistant until 1972. He started to write during university, first in the magazine ''Yön'' and then in several other leftist periodicals. Between 1968 and 1970, he wrote articles on politics for the newspapers ''Akşam'', ''Cumhuriyet'' and ''Milliyet''. Kırşehir
Kırşehir, formerly Mocissus ( grc, Μωκισσός) and Justinianopolis (Ἰουστινιανούπολις), is a city in Turkey. It is the capital district of the Kırşehir Province. According to the 2000 census, the population of the district is 121,947 of which 105,826 live in the city of Kırşehir. The Mayor of Kırşehir is Selehattin Ekicioğlu. History The history of Kırşehir dates back to the Hittites. During the period of the Hittites, the basin of Kırşehir was known as the country of "Ahiyuva", meaning "the Land of the Achaeans", as the Greeks were known to the Hittites. This basin also took the name Cappadocia at the time of the Roman Empire, Romans and Byzantines. Kırşehir was once known as Aquae Saravenae. Eşref Bitlis (Malatya 1933 – Ankara 17 February 1993) was a general in the Turkish Gendarmerie, who died in a controversial plane crash. Background He was born 1933 in the eastern Anatolian city of Malatya, Turkey. He attended the Turkish Military Academy, finishing it in 1952 with the rank of lieutenant. In 1966, he graduated from the War Academy of the Army ( tr, Kara Harp Akademisi). After completing a language course in Germany, Bitlis studied further at the Academy of the Turkish Armed Forces ( tr, Silahlı Kuvvetler Akademisi), graduating in 1969. Later, he was educated at the Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr, the highest military academy of the German armed forces. He graduated in Germany in 1973. Career Following his graduation in Germany in 1973, Bitlis returned home and served one year as head teacher at the War Academy of the Army.
