Uzi (band)
Uzi was an American alternative rock band, formed in 1984 in Boston, Massachusetts and disbanded in 1987. The band featured Thalia Zedek (vocals, guitar), Danny Lee (drums), Randy Barnwell (bass guitar), Bob Young (guitar) and Phil Milstein (tape loops). Never achieving commercial success during their short period of activity, the band gained a cult following, becoming a part of Boston's underground rock scene. History Uzi was formed by Zedek and Lee after Zedek left the all-female post-punk band Dangerous Birds in 1983. Barnwell was replaced briefly by Craig Federhen prior to Uzi's first concert. The band released only one EP, ''Sleep Asylum'', released by Homestead Records in 1986. The band's sound featured "gritty wall of sound guitars, tape loops, and heavy drumbeats, accompanied by Zedek's strong vocal presence," which drew comparisons to noise rock acts such as Sonic Youth and to a lesser extent, Big Black. Uzi Landau
Uzi Landau ( he, עוזי לנדאו, born 2 August 1943) is an Israeli politician and systems analyst. He served as a member of the Knesset for Likud between 1984 and 2006, and for Yisrael Beiteinu between 2009 and 2015. He also held several ministerial posts, including Minister of Public Security, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Minister of Energy and Water Resources and Minister of Tourism. Biography Landau was born in Haifa during the Mandate era. He served in the Paratroopers Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces, and reached the rank of Major. He gained a BSc and MSc from the Technion in mathematics, and a PhD in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He worked at the Technion, was director-general of the Israel Ministry of Transport and also a member of the board of El Al. Uzi Island is an island in the south of Zanzibar, connected by causeway to the main island of Unguja. It is located immediately to the south of the main island's Unguja Ukuu ruins. Uji, Kyoto
is a city on the southern outskirts of the city of Kyoto, in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Founded on March 1, 1951, Uji is between the two ancient capitals of Nara and Kyoto. The city sits on the Uji River, which has its source in Lake Biwa. Uji has a population of 179,630 and is the second largest city in Kyoto Prefecture. Uzi Vishkin (born 1953) is a computer scientist at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS). Uzi Vishkin is known for his work in the field of parallel computing. Uzi Rubin (born 1937) is an Israeli defense engineer and analyst. Rubin is considered one of the pre-eminent analysts of missile systems in the Middle East. Uzi Narkiss
Uzi Narkiss ( he, עוזי נרקיס; January 6, 1925 – December 17, 1997) was an Israeli general. Narkiss was commander of the Israel Defense Forces units in the Central Region during the 1967 Six-Day War. Narkiss appears in the famous photograph of Defense Minister Moshe Dayan flanked by Chief of Staff Yitzhak Rabin taken in the Old City of Jerusalem shortly after its capture from Jordanian forces. Uzi Hitman ( he, עוזי חיטמן; June 9, 1952 – October 17, 2004) was an Israeli singer-songwriter, composer, musician, actor, director and television personality. Biography Uzi Hitman was born in Giv'at Shmuel and lived all his life in Ramat Gan. His parents, Holocaust survivors, followed a traditionalist Jewish lifestyle; his father served as a cantor.
