Uttarayan (film)
''Uttarayan'' is a Marathi directorial debut film of Bipin Nadkarni starring Shivaji Satam and Neena Kulkarni in lead roles. It has won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi. The plot of the film is based on the Marathi play "Durgi" written by Jaywant Dalvi. Plot Raghuvir Rajadhyaksha (Raghu) moves to Mumbai after his retirement to live with his son Sanjay, who is now getting married and has future plans of going to USA. Raghu, a widower for the past 14 years meets Kusumawati, his teenage crush. Kusumawati is now known as Durgi, as she was named that after her marriage with a rich barrister from Pune. Durgi's marriage fails as she is abused & harassed. Her father dies of a heart attack and her brother sells off all the property and leaves with his wife to live separately. Jaywant Dalvi
Jaywant Dalvi (14 August 1925 – 16 September 1994) was a prominent contemporary Marathi writer in Maharashtra, India, originally from Arawali (Dist.Sindhudurg, Tal. Vengurle) in Maharashtra. He worked as an assistant editor at Marathi newspapers ''Prabhāt'' and ''Lokmānya'', and later with USIS. As part of USIS efforts to make good English literature available in other languages, Dalvi selected texts and able translators, and helped the cause. He took an early retirement to concentrate on writing novels. He is best remembered for his dramas, and a humorous column on Marathi literary personalities which he wrote under the pseudonym: ThanthanpaaL. Jaywant Dalvi had a long time friendly relations with noted Marathi literary couple Pu La Deshpande and Sunita Deshpande. Shivaji Satam (born 21 April 1950), is an Indian television and film actor. He is best known for his role as ACP Pradyuman on the TV series '' C.I.D.'' on SET India. Suhita Thatte
Suhita or Soheeta (died 1447), was a Javanese queen regnant and the sixth monarch of the Majapahit empire, ruling from 1429 to 1447. She was the daughter of Wikramawardhana, her predecessor, by a concubine who was the daughter of Wirabhumi, who was killed in the Regreg civil war with Wikramawardhana. She was succeeded by her brother, Kertawijaya.
