Utah State Route 20
State Route 20 (SR-20) is a state highway in southern Utah, running in Iron and Garfield Counties, without directly serving or connecting any cities. It serves as a truck connection between I-15 and US-89 and an access to Bryce Canyon National Park. It may also be used to travel between Salt Lake City and Phoenix, Arizona. The highway follows the route of the Old Spanish Trail. Route description SR-20 begins at I-15, Exit 95, north of Paragonah, and heads east and southeast through a pass between the Markagunt Plateau and the Tushar Mountains. It ends at an intersection with US-89 at Bear Valley Junction. Trucks are routed from I-15 and US-89 onto SR-20 in preference to SR-9 and SR-14 to avoid steep grades and switchbacks required to cross the Markagunt Plateau. Paragonah ( ) is a town in Iron County, Utah, United States. The population was 488 at the 2010 census. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 470 people, 156 households, and 122 families residing in the town. The population density was 810.2 people per square mile (312.9/km2). There were 197 housing units at an average density of 339.6 per square mile (131.1/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.09% White, 0.21% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.21% Pacific Islander, 0.64% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.49% of the population. Utah State Route 14
State Route 14 (SR-14) is a state highway in southern Utah, running for in Iron and Kane Counties from Cedar City to Long Valley Junction. The highway has been designated the Markagaunt High Plateau Scenic Byway as part of the Utah Scenic Byways program. Route description As the ascent up the Markagunt Plateau features steep grades and sharp curves the Utah Department of Transportation has prohibited all vehicles exceeding wide or long. All vehicles exceeding wide are required to have pilot escorts. SR-14 begins at an intersection with SR-130 in central Cedar City and heads east out of the city. U.S. Route 89 (US 89) in the U.S. state of Utah is a north-south United States Highway spanning more than through the central part of the state, making it the longest road in Utah. Between Provo and Brigham City, US-89 serves as a local road, paralleling (and occasionally concurring with) Interstate 15, but the portions from Arizona north to Provo and Brigham City northeast to Wyoming serve separate corridors. State Route 271 (SR-271) is a state highway within Iron County in the southwestern portion of the US state of Utah that connects Parowan and SR-274 to Paragonah and I-15. The route spans south–north and roughly parallels I-15. State Route 271 was designated in 1978. Route description The highway begins at an intersection at SR-274 in the center of Parowan and heads northeast on a two-lane undivided highway. Prior to exiting Parowan, the highway intersects with several local roads and borders the southern side of the Parowan Airport.
