Ustje, Ig
Ustje () is a former settlement in the Municipality of Ig in central Slovenia. It is now part of the village of Iška, Ig, Iška. The area is part of the traditional region of Inner Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. Geography Ustje comprises two groups of what were isolated farms;''Krajevni leksikon Dravske Banovine''. 1937. The settlement is located in the extreme southwest part of the territory of Iška. Krvavica Spring lies below the road to Ustje. Mount Krim rises to the north and the terrain drops to the Iška Gorge to the east, where the Zala River empties into the Iška River. Name The name ''Ustje'' is derived from the common noun ''ustje'' 'mouth of a river'. The name refers to the confluence of the Zala and Iška rivers southeast of the settlement. Iška Gorge
The Iška () is a river of central Slovenia. Part of the river valley—the Iška Gorge or Iška Canyon ( sl, Iški vintgar)—separates Lower Carniola from Inner Carniola. The river is long. After flowing past Strahomer, the river follows an almost straight line and joins the Ljubljanica River, and therefore belongs to the Sava and Black Sea basins. The part of the river between Iška Vas and Strahomer disappeared underground during the 2010 Slovenia floods, on the night of 20 September 2010. Gornji Ig (; in older sources also ''Gorenji Ig'',''Leksikon občin kraljestev in dežel zastopanih v državnem zboru,'' vol. 6: ''Kranjsko''. 1906. Vienna: C. Kr. Dvorna in Državna Tiskarna, p. 108. german: Oberigg) is a village in the hills southwest of Iška Vas in the Municipality of Ig in central Slovenia. The entire municipality is part of the traditional region of Inner Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. Name The name ''Gornji Ig'' literally means 'upper Ig', referring to its location above the Ig, Ig, Ig area. Gornji Ig was attested in historical sources as ''Ober Yg'' in 1300, ''Ober Ig'' in 1444, and ''Oberygdorff'' in 1493, among other spellings. Church The local church (building), church, built on a slight elevation north of the settlement, is dedicated to Leonard of Noblac, Saint Leonard and belongs to the Parish of Ig. It was a medieval church that was destroyed by Italian artillery on July 16, 1942.
