Usta Murad
Usta Murad (1570, Levanto - June 1640, Tunis; french: Ousta Mourad) was a corsair captain and later Dey of Tunis from 1637 until his death. Biography Born in Liguria, he was the son of Francesco Di Rio. The chroniclers do not record whether he was captured by the Barbary pirates and sold to Uthman Dey or if he voluntarily joined the galleys of the Tunisian Beylik. After converting to Islam, he took the name Murad (Turkish: Morat)In the Christian west, Usta Murad was known by various names: Usta Mourato, Osta Moratto, Osta Mouratto, Sta Mouratto, Stamurato, Osta Murat and Estamorat. All are variants of the original Arabic. and began to build a comfortable position in Tunis by becoming a corsair of the beylik. An act delivered by the French consulate on 1 November 1594 indicates in effect that the "patron" of a ship from Salerno had declared himself to owe Mourad 90 gold crowns. Dey (Arabic: داي), from the Turkish honorific title ''dayı'', literally meaning uncle, was the title given to the rulers of the Regency of Algiers (Algeria), Tripoli,Bertarelli (1929), p. 203. and Tunis under the Ottoman Empire from 1671 onwards. Twenty-nine ''deys'' held office from the establishment of the deylicate in Algeria until the French conquest in 1830. The dey was chosen by local civilian, military, and religious leaders to govern for life and ruled with a high degree of autonomy from the Ottoman sultan. The main sources of his revenues were taxes on the agricultural population, religious tributes, and protection payments rendered by Corsairs, regarded as pirates who preyed on Mediterranean shipping. Berkin Usta (born 29 May 2000) is a Turkish male Olympian alpine skier. Early years Berkin Usta was born in Bursa, Turkey on 29 May 2000. His father Yahya Usta was a national alpine skier. Fuat Usta
Fuat Usta (born 3 July 1972) is a Turkish football coach and former professional player. Playing career Usta played as a midfielder in the Netherlands, Turkey, Finland, and Japan with Rapid, MVV'02, Fortuna Sittard, Beşiktaş, Cambuur, Sparta, Jokerit, MVV and Omiya Ardija. Usta left MVV in August 2002 to sign with Japanese club Omiya Ardija until the end of the 2002 season. He returned to MVV in January 2003, on an amateur contract. Coaching career After three years working as an assistant manager of Fortuna Sittard, in July 2010 he was appointed by Guus Hiddink to be an assistant coach of the Turkish national team. He was also responsible for the U23 team. In October 2012 he moved with Hiddink to Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, where he became head of youth education. He left Anzhi in 2017. Hisam-ud-din Usta
Hisam-ud-din Usta (1910 – 1987) was a popular artist born in the erstwhile Bikaner State (present-day Rajasthan, India). Hisam-ud-din was the last formally trained painter in the Bikaner School style/tradition and became a celebrated artisan in the media of Naqqashi and Manoti. Manoti is an embossed medium where gold is layered with painted floral patterns using translucent and opaque oil and watercolours on bronze, wood, gold, silver, plaster of paris, and camel leather. Naqqashi has the same methods as Manoti in its application but the gold is unembossed. These media are proprietary methods practiced only by Usta artisans of Bikaner. Awards and recognition Hisam-ud-din received the National Award of master craftsperson in 1967, and was a recipient of the Padma Shri award in 1986, the highest honour given to an Indian artist by the President of India. Jorge García Usta (January 13, 1960 – December 25, 2005) was a Colombian novelist, poet, essayist and journalist. Biography García was born in the San Jerónimo hospital of Montería as grandson of Syro-Lebanese immigrants, and was son of the physician José Antonio García Schotborgh and his wife Nevija Usta Zaruf, who lived in Ciénaga de Oro. When he was three years old, his father died in Puebla, Mexico, his mother died in 1988. In 1979 he matriculated at Universidad de Cartagena, where he lectured later, to study law, but soon changed to Saint Thomas Aquinas University, where he did his studies of philosophy and literature. In 1989 he married Rocío García.
