is a fictional character and protagonist of Rumiko Takahashi's manga and anime series ''Urusei Yatsura''. ''Urusei Yatsura'' is a Japanese anime television series produced by Kitty Films that aired on Fuji Television from October 14, 1981 to March 19, 1986. It is based on the manga series of the same name by Rumiko Takahashi and was co-produced by Pierrot until episode 106, and Studio Deen for the rest of the series. The series was licensed in North America by AnimEigo in 1992, and released the series English subbed on VHS in October that year. Their license expired in 2011, and is currently licensed by Discotek Media, as announced during their panel at Otakon 2022. Benten (Urusei Yatsura)
is a fictional character appearing in the Japanese manga series '' Urusei Yatsura'', created by Rumiko Takahashi. The character made her first appearance in the 8th chapter of the series, which was first published in Japan in Shogakukan's ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' magazine on February 28, 1979. In ''Urusei Yatsura'', Benten is portrayed as a "space biker chick" who is a member of the Fukujin alien clan, as well as a childhood friend of the series' female protagonist Lum. is a Japanese animator and director who has directed several anime series, usually working with Gonzo and formerly worked at Madhouse. Chigira is best known for directing ''Full Metal Panic!'' and ''Last Exile''. Career Chigira joined Tatsunoko Production in 1979, working at the effects department. Kitty Films (キティフィルム ''Kiti Firumu'') was a production company established in 1972 in Japan. History The company was first established in 1972 as Kitty Music Corporation under Hidenori Taga. It was a subsidiary of Polydor and MCA Inc., producing TV drama soundtracks. Their first was for the 1972 film ''Hajimete no Tabi''. By 1979 the company began to branch off into live action with the films ''Kagirinaku toumei ni chikai buru'' and ''Lady Oscar'' (adaptation of the manga ''The Rose of Versailles'', Kitty had no association with the 1979 anime version of the latter, which was made by Tokyo Movie Shinsha).
