Urusei Yatsura (1981 TV Series)
''Urusei Yatsura'' is a Japanese anime television series produced by Kitty Films that aired on Fuji Television from October 14, 1981 to March 19, 1986. It is based on the manga series of the same name by Rumiko Takahashi and was co-produced by Pierrot until episode 106, and Studio Deen for the rest of the series. The series was licensed in North America by AnimEigo in 1992, and released the series English subbed on VHS in October that year. Their license expired in 2011, and is currently licensed by Discotek Media, as announced during their panel at Otakon 2022. The series was also syndicated in North America on KTEH in 1998, and BBC Choice aired a gag dub as part of a ''Japan TV Weekend'' block special as "Lum the Invader Girl" on August 5, 2000. Lum (Urusei Yatsura)
Lum the Invader Girl (), known in Japan simply as , is a fictional character and the female protagonist of Rumiko Takahashi's manga series ''Urusei Yatsura''. She is often believed to be the main protagonist of the series due to her iconic status. However, Takahashi has stated that Ataru Moroboshi is the main character. She is named Lamu in Animax's English-language dub of the series, and in the Italian and French anime dubs as well; however she is still called "Lum" in the Spanish anime dub. Her name is thought to come from popular 1970s swimsuit model Agnes Lum, as well as Rumiko Takahashi's nickname of "Rum" or "Lum" (from the interchangeable sound of the Rs and Ls in Japanese). BBC Choice
BBC Choice was a British digital television channel which was owned by the BBC and was launched on 23 September 1998. It was the first British TV channel to broadcast exclusively in digital format, as well as the BBC's second non-analogue-terrestrial channel launch (following on from the BBC News channel in 1997). At launch, BBC Choice mainly existed to supplement existing programming on BBC One and Two, with some low-profile original programming of its own.
