Urshan Graduate School Of Theology
Urshan Graduate School of Theology (UGST) is a private seminary affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI) and located in Wentzville, Missouri. It opened in 2001 as a Oneness Pentecostal seminary. Students As of Fall 2018, 94 students were enrolled in UGST's three degree programs. Students are not required to be members of the United Pentecostal Church International, but it is loyal to the teachings of that organization. Faculty and staff must subscribe to the biblical doctrines outlined in the Articles of Faith of the UPCI. History Urshan Graduate School of Theology is named for Andrew Urshan and the legacy of the Oneness doctrine and visionary teaching that he handed down through his son, Nathaniel. Urshan College, formerly known as Gateway College of Evangelism, is a Christian College in Wentzville, Missouri, near St. Louis. It is owned and operated by the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI). In 2012, the college was acquired by Urshan Graduate School of Theology. History The founding of a Bible college in the St. Louis area was initiated by Harry Branding (superintendent of the Missouri District for the UPCI), who formed a committee to look into this possibility, this committee presented the idea to the Missouri District Board. On July 13, 1966, the district passed a resolution to create such a Bible college. The next year the bylaws were chosen and the college was given the name Gateway College of Evangelism. Urshan Gateway Library
The Urshan Library is an academic library that supports the faculty, staff, and students of Urshan Graduate School of Theology and Urshan College. Collection development began with the acquisition of the personal library of Ernest E. Jolley, a United Pentecostal Church International minister. Rev Jolley's library was donated to Gateway College of Evangelism and consisted of almost ten thousand volumes. This donation was catalogued and shelved in one of the large classrooms. A major shift in the library took place in 2001 when the Urshan Graduate School of Theology began operation. Intentional acquisition of material relevant to curriculum and research of the school's professional staff became a top priority. Over of floor space was remodeled and designed for library use. The library now consists of approximately 40,000 holdings with 30,000 titles. Future development will broaden to other formats but printed manuscript is the preferred medium for present development. Oneness Pentecostalism
Oneness Pentecostalism (also known as Apostolic, Jesus' Name Pentecostalism, or the Jesus Only movement) is a nontrinitarian religious movement within the Protestant Christian family of churches known as Pentecostalism. It derives its distinctive name from its teaching on the Godhead, which is popularly referred to as the Oneness doctrine, a form of Modalistic Monarchianism. This doctrine states that there is one God, a singular divine spirit with no distinction of persons who manifests himself in many ways, including as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This stands in sharp contrast to the doctrine of three distinct and eternal persons posited by Trinitarian theology.
