Urkhao Gwra Brahma (born 1964) is an Indian politician and poet of United People's Party Liberal and current Minister for Handloom & Textile, Soil Conservation and Welfare of Bodoland, Government of Assam since 10 May 2021. He was a former Member of the Parliament of India representing Assam in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. He got Sahitya Academy Award for his poetry ''उदांनिफ्राय'' ''गिदिंबोफिनन्नाय (Return from Freedom)'' in 2014. Sahitya Academy
The Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters, is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of literature in the languages of India. Founded on 12 March 1954, it is supported by, though independent of, the Indian government. Its office is located in Rabindra Bhavan near Mandi House in Delhi. Bodo People
Boro (बर'/बड़ो ), also called Bodo, is the largest ethnolinguistic group in the Assam state of India. They are a part of the greater Bodo-Kachari people, Bodo-Kachari family of ethnolinguistic groups and are spread across northeastern India. They are concentrated mainly in the Bodoland Territorial Region of Assam, though Boros inhabit all other districts of Assam and Meghalaya. Boros are officially listed as "Boro, Borokachari" scheduled tribe under the Constitution of India. Boros speak the Bodo language, Boro language, a Boro-Garo languages, Boro-Garo language of the Tibeto-Burman family, which is recognised as one of twenty-two Scheduled languages of India. The Rajya Sabha (meaning the "Council of States") is the upper house of the Parliament of India. Assam elects 7 seats since 1956 (one more than 1952-1956). Members are indirectly elected by state legislators (elected politicians) of Assam.
