Urban Planning Areas In Singapore
Planning areas, also known as DGP areas or DGP zones, are the main urban planning and census divisions of Singapore delineated by the Urban Redevelopment Authority. There are a total of 55 of these areas, organised into five regions. A Development Guide Plan is then drawn up for each planning area, providing for detailed planning guidelines for every individual plot of land throughout the country. The planning areas were first introduced in the early 1990s after the release of the 1991 Concept Plan. Since the implementation of these boundaries, other government ministries and departments have also increasingly adopted these boundaries for their administrative purposes. Bukit Batok
Bukit Batok, often abbreviated as Bt Batok, is a planning area and matured residential town located along the eastern boundary of the West Region of Singapore. Bukit Batok statistically ranks in as the 25th largest, the 12th most populous and the 11th most densely populated planning area in the Republic. It is bordered by six other planning areas - Choa Chu Kang to the North, northeast and northwest, Cashew to the northeast and east, Clementi to the south, Bukit Timah to the southeast, Jurong East to the southwest and Tengah to the west. Bukit Batok largely sits on Gombak norite, a geological formation that is found in high concentrations within the planning area itself, as well as in the western parts of neighbouring Cashew. The West Region of Singapore is one of the five regions in the city-state. The region is the largest in terms of land area and is the third most populous region after the North-East Region and Central Region. Boon Lay Planning Area
Boon Lay is a planning area located in the West Region of Singapore. The planning area is bounded by the planning areas of Pioneer to the west, Jurong West to the north, Jurong East to the east and the strait of Selat Jurong to the south. The Boon Lay Planning Area is different from Boon Lay. The latter is a residential neighbourhood located in the adjacent Jurong West Planning Area. Along with adjacent Pioneer, the Boon Lay Planning Area is a constituent part of the much larger Jurong Industrial Estate. Central Region, Singapore
The Central Region is one of the five regions in the city-state of Singapore and the main metropolitan region surrounding the Central Area. Comprising 13,150 hectares of land area, it includes 11 planning areas within the Central Area, as well as another 11 more outside it. The region is home to many of Singapore's national monuments as it was historically the site where the city was first founded and the country's only UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a -year-old tropical garden is also located in the region. Bishan (), also known as either Bishan New Town or Bishan Town, is a planning area and matured residential town located at the northernmost portion of the Central Region of Singapore. Statistically, the area is ranked the 38th biggest in terms of geographical size and the 22nd most populated planning area in the country. It is located at the most Central point of Singapore, and it comprises Upper Thomson, Marymount, Shunfu, Sin Ming, Bishan North and Bishan East. There are also many private residential properties in Bishan. Bishan is ranked 15th in terms of population density. The North-East Region of Singapore is one of the five regions in the city-state. The region is the most densely populated and has the highest population among the five, with Sengkang being its most populous town as of 2020 and Seletar as the regional centre.
