Uralochka Zlatoust
Uralochka-ZMZ Zlatoust (russian: Динамо-Уралочка) is a Russian professional women's water polo club from Zlatoust. Uralochka won the first edition of the Russian Championship in 1992, and it subsequently won four more titles between 1999 and 2002, also reaching the final of the European Cup in 2000. Between 1996-98 and 2004-08 it was the championship's runner-up, second to SKIF Izmaylovo and Kinef Kirishi respectively. Zlatoust
Zlatoust ( rus, Златоуст, p=zlətɐˈust) is a city in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, located on the Ay River (in the Kama basin), west of Chelyabinsk. Population: 181,000 (1971); 161,000 (1959); 99,000 (1939); 48,000 (1926); 21,000 (1910). Etymology Apparently, the city's name is derived from the Russian translation of "Chrysostom", literally "golden-mouthed" in the original Greek, for the eloquent Saint John Chrysostom, because the city was founded near a church dedicated to that saint. In other languages the city is sometimes called ''Ызлататыс ''(Izlataltıs) or ''Зылатаус'' (Zılataus) in Tatar and ''Залатауыс'' in Bashkir. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal. LEN Euroleague
The LEN Champions League is the top-tier European professional water polo club competition with teams from up to 18 countries. It is organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation. The competition started in 1963 as European Cup. A change of name and format occurred in 1996, with the competition being renamed Champions League and the final four system being established as the format of choice, for the first time during the 1996–97 LEN Champions League. From 2003 to 2011 the competition was named LEN Euroleague (with the change of name being simply a re-branding) and from 2011 and on LEN Champions League, its current name. Kinef-Surgutneftegaz (russian: КИНЕФ-Сургутнефтегаз) is a Russian professional men's and women's water polo club from Kirishi owned by Kinef and Surgutneftegaz. The women's club was founded in the 1993–94 season as Fakel. In the 1996–97 season the club was renamed Kinef. Since 2003, receiving its current name Kinef-Surgutneftegaz, the Russian club emerged in the mid-2000s as the leading team in Russia, dominating the Russian Championship in subsequent years.
