Upsilon Acrux
Upsilon Acrux is an American progressive rock band from Los Angeles formed in 1998. History Upsilon Acrux first appeared on record on a 1998 compilation entitled ''Trummerflora 2''. Soon after they contributed a song to a compilation entitled ''Before the Pirates Came''. They went from a 4 piece to a 3 piece before releasing 2002's ''Last Train Out''. They expanded to a five-piece, including two drummers for ''Volucris Avis Dirae-Arum'' in 2004. By 2005 they had done away with the dual-drummer setup, and signed with Cuneiform Records later in the year. 2007 saw the release of their first album for Cuneiform, ''Galapagos Momentum''. They released their sixth full-length album, entitled ''Radian Futura'', on May 19, 2009. In 2015, on April 14, they released a new album called ''Sun Square Dialect''. Health (often stylized as HEALTH) is an American noise rock/industrial band from Los Angeles, California. History Health was created after its members agreed the name should be an "everyday word." After reviewing a long list of terms, "health" was the only one not taken. ''Health'' Health first gained reputation through a remix of their song "Crimewave" by experimental electronic band Crystal Castles in August 2007. The rendition helped broaden Health's audience in anticipation for their full-length debut a month later released under Lovepump United. Peter Brötzmann (born 6 March 1941) is a German saxophonist and clarinetist. Biography Early life Brötzmann was born in Remscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. He studied painting in Wuppertal and was involved with the Fluxus movement but grew dissatisfied with art galleries and exhibitions. He experienced his first jazz concert when he saw American jazz musician Sidney Bechet while still in school at Wuppertal, and it made a lasting impression. He has not abandoned his art training. Brötzmann has designed most of his album covers. He taught himself to play clarinets, then saxophones; he is also known for playing the tárogató. Ahleuchatistas are an American instrumental math rock duo that mix influences of jazz, progressive rock, avant-garde, and experimental to create a unique sound. The band was formed in Asheville, North Carolina in November 2002. Ahleuchatistas' sound is rooted in a wide variety of sonic influences and musical traditions. In addition to being an instrumental rock band, there are elements of noise, African music, ambient/drone, psychedelia, Chinese traditional music, garage rock, minimalism, classical music, and electronica. Yowie is an experimental rock band from St. Louis, Missouri, founded in 2000. The original lineup consisted of Jeremiah Wonsewitz on electric guitar, Jimbo "Moppy" or "Lil' Pumpkin" on electric guitar and Shawn "The Defenestrator" O'Connor on drums. Yowie plays a complex style of unprocessed instrumental math rock, composed of meticulously arranged pieces that rely on compositional techniques that are seldom heard in rock based music. It is high-velocity music of intense discipline, rigid structure and focused force. The music has been compared to math rock bands such as Hella, Tera Melos, Arab on Radar, Ahleuchatistas, Don Caballero and Zeuhl band Koenji Hyakkei. Cuneiform is a logo-syllabic script that was used to write several languages of the Ancient Middle East. The script was in active use from the early Bronze Age until the beginning of the Common Era. Mission of Burma was an American post-punk band from Boston, Massachusetts. The group formed in 1979 with Roger Miller on guitar, Clint Conley on bass, Peter Prescott on drums, and Martin Swope contributing audiotape manipulation and acting as the band’s sound engineer. In this initial lineup, Miller, Conley, and Prescott all shared singing and songwriting duties.
