''Upside Down Flowers'' is the third studio album by American rock pianist Andrew McMahon, under the moniker Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, released on November 16, 2018. Background and production Vocalist/pianist Andrew McMahon released the second album under his Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness moniker, ''Zombies on Broadway'', in February 2017. Its lead single "Fire Escape" became a top five charting-hit at alternative radio. He promoted it with tours of North America and Japan until Thanksgiving when he took his first long break in years. After renovating his Californian home, he had a studio area with his piano where he could write. He would often take his daughter to school and spend the rest of the day in his studio. Andrew Ross McMahon (born September 3, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter. He was the vocalist, pianist and primary lyricist for the bands Something Corporate and main songwriter for Jack's Mannequin and performs solo both under his own name as well as his moniker, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. Jack's Mannequin was an American rock band formed in 2004, hailing from Orange County, California. The band originally began as a solo project for Andrew McMahon, the frontman of Something Corporate. Flor (stylized as flor) (previously Sunderland) is an American indie band formed in Hood River, Oregon in 2014. The band currently consists of Zach Grace (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), McKinley Kitts (guitar), Dylan Bauld (bass), and Kyle Hill (drums). Mott the Hoople were an English rock band formed in Herefordshire. Originally known as the Doc Thomas Group, the group changed their name after signing with Island Records in 1969. The band released albums throughout the early 1970s but failed to find commercial success. On the verge of breaking up, the band were encouraged by David Bowie to stay together. Something Corporate (also known as ''SoCo'') was an American rock band from Orange County, California, formed in 1998. Their last line-up included vocalist and pianist Andrew McMahon, guitarists Josh Partington and Bobby Anderson, bassist Kevin Page and drummer Brian Ireland.
