Upper Weeks Falls
Olallie State Park is a public recreation area featuring multiple waterfalls located southeast of North Bend, Washington. The state park spans a stretch along the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River. The most prominent feature of the park is Twin Falls. History The park originated in 1950, when Washington State Parks purchased a 160-acre parcel from Puget Sound Power and Light. North Bend, Washington
North Bend is a city in King County, Washington, United States, on the outskirts of the Seattle metropolitan area. The population was 5,731 at the 2010 census and an estimated 7,136 in 2018. Since the closure of Weyerhaeuser's Snoqualmie sawmill, North Bend has become a prosperous bedroom community for Seattle, which is located about to the west. Snoqualmie River
The Snoqualmie River is a long river in King County and Snohomish County in the U.S. state of Washington. The river's three main tributaries are the North, Middle, and South Forks, which drain the west side of the Cascade Mountains near the town of North Bend and join near the town of Snoqualmie just above the Snoqualmie Falls. After the falls the river flows north through rich farmland and the towns of Fall City, Carnation, and Duvall before meeting the Skykomish River to form the Snohomish River near Monroe. The Snohomish River empties into Puget Sound at Everett. The Chinookan languages were a small family of languages spoken in Oregon and Washington along the Columbia River by Chinook peoples. Although the last known native speaker of any Chinookan language died in 2012, the 2009-2013 American Community Survey found 270 self-identified speakers of Upper Chinook. Weeks Falls
Weeks Falls is a waterfall on the south fork of the Snoqualmie River, located near North Bend, Washington, USA, just south of Interstate 90 at exit 38. The falls are at the end of the road that goes past the Olallie State Park ranger headquarters. From the gravel parking lot, there is a paved accessible overlook to see the falls and a small area around the hydro-electric plant. There is also a ¼ mile accessible interpretive trail nearby. Weeks Falls has a small hydroelectric plant operated by CHI West which generates about 4.3 Megawatts peak. It is unusual because it operates without a dam. Instead, water is being drawn from the river above the falls and run down an underground channel to the generation unit at the bottom of Weeks Falls.
