. Upper Fraser developed between Aleza Lake and Hansard on the southwest side of the Fraser River in central British Columbia. The community of about 20 residents comprises a post-office and several houses straddling Upper Fraser Road. Transportation A trackside signpost marks the flag stop for Via Rail's Jasper – Prince Rupert train. The immediate Via Rail stops are Aleza Lake to the west and McGregor to the southeast. History Railway Upper Fraser lies at Mile 104.0, Fraser Subdivision. Previously designated as Mile 194 and the Hudson Bay Spur, it was the closest railway point east of Willow River for accessing the Fraser. Finlay Forks
Finlay Forks (also called Finlay Junction and sometimes misspelt Findlay), is the confluence of the Finlay River and Parsnip River. The Finlay Bay Recreation Site, on the southeast bank, is about southeast of the former settlement (on the earlier southeast bank) that is now submerged beneath Williston Lake. Like the river, it was named after explorer John Finlay. The access road from Mackenzie is called the Parsnip West FSR (formerly Finlay Forks Road and Parsnip Forest Road). Longworth comprises scattered houses in a settlement between Sinclair Mills and Penny on the northeast side of the Fraser River in central British Columbia. Penny, between Longworth and Dome Creek on the northeast side of the Fraser River in central British Columbia, offers an access point for outdoor recreational activities. With a community hall and 11 permanent residents,Clarence & Olga Boudreau recollections, Dec 2019 the 40 plus houses are mainly absentee owned, but are occupied seasonally. No utilities infrastructure exists. Prior to the post office permanently closing on 31 December 2013, the community was the only one in Canada that still relied upon the railway for its postal service. Mixed Train
A mixed train or mixed consist is a train that contains both passenger and freight cars or wagons. Although common in the early days of railways, by the 20th century they were largely confined to branch lines with little traffic. Typically, service was slower, because mixed trains usually involved the shunting (switching) of rolling stock at stops along the way. Prince Rupert is a port city in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Its location is on Kaien Island near the Alaskan panhandle. Giscome, British Columbia
Giscome is a community comprising scattered houses located at the southwest end of Eaglet Lake, which is east of Willow River, in central British Columbia. A combined elementary school (to which children are bussed) and East Line Activity Centre (community centre with gym) serves the surrounding settlements from Willow River to Longworth. In 2020, Graymont Western Canada Inc. is planning to open a quarry and lime plant on the former mill and Canadian National Railway (CNR) quarry sites. The community and Giscome Portage were named after John Robert Giscom(b)e, a black prospector from Jamaica, who came to the district in the 1860s. History James Edward Bateman was the first settler in the area, obtaining a crown grant in 1914 for a narrow lot one mile east of Giscome along the lakeshore, over which the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway (GTP) held a right-of way.
