Upper Canada District School Board
The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB), known as English-language Public District School Board No. 26 prior to 1999) is one of the largest public school boards in Ontario in terms of geographical area. It encompasses the counties in the easternmost portion of the province, including the cities of Brockville, Clarence-Rockland, Carleton Place, Cornwall, and Akwesasne. It covers most of the area surrounding - but not including - the city of Ottawa. Trustee elections are held periodically to elect new trustees. The board manages a main office in Brockville and four regional education centres, and offers alternate and continuing education at over 30 locations. The board foresees an overall decline in student enrolment over the next 15 years, and has engaged in long-term strategic planning to address this issue. The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, commonly known as Leeds and Grenville, is a county in Ontario, Canada, in the Eastern Ontario subregion of Southern Ontario. Brockville Collegiate Institute (BCI) is a Brockville public intermediate and high school that follows the Ontario curriculum. The French immersion and extended core French programs involve approximately 125 students in grades 9–12. Business, mathematics, computers, science, liberal arts, and communication programs have produced many graduates, who have gone on to pursue careers in medicine, engineering, law, computer technology and business. The school draws from ten public elementary schools, one separate elementary school, and one French Catholic elementary school and represent a variety of ethno-cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Kemptville is a community located in the Municipality of North Grenville in Eastern Ontario, Canada in the northernmost part of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. It is located approximately south of the downtown core of Ottawa and south of the Rideau River. North Grenville District High School (NGDHS), is a secondary school in the community of Kemptville, Ontario. It is part of the Upper Canada District School Board and is currently at 2605 Concession Road, Kemptville, ON, K0G 1J0. Prior to 2012, North Grenville District High School was located at 304 Prescott Street, Kemptville, Ontario, K0G 1J0. History In 1936, North Grenville District High School opened after replacing an older building that was destroyed by a fire. In 2012, the school was closed and students were moved to its current building in a different location. In 2018, the former building for the school was put up for sale. Chesterville is a village in the township of North Dundas, within the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. It is located north of Morrisburg, west of Cornwall and south-east of Ottawa. The village is situated along the South Nation River. History Early Settlement The land in what would become Dundas County was granted in 1784 to United Empire Loyalists, most of whom had fought with the King's Royal Regiment of New York during the American Revolution. Chesterville's first settlement was located along the South Nation River on Lot 18, Concession 4 of the former Winchester Township. Cornwall Collegiate And Vocational School
Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School (CCVS) is a high school located in Cornwall, Ontario. It was built in 1806 and is one of the oldest schools in Canada. The school's bicentennial in 2006 attracted over 1500 former students back to the school. History Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School was founded in 1806 by John Strachan as the Cornwall Grammar School. Strachan would later go on to help found the University of Toronto.
