''Untitled'' is an outdoor 1977 painted aluminum sculpture by Ivan Morrison, located at Southwest 5th Avenue and Southwest Oak Street in the Portland Transit Mall, Transit Mall of Portland, Oregon. Description The sculpture, funded by TriMet and the United States Department of Transportation, measures x , x , , and appears to blend mediums, "rendering two-dimensional fields of color in a three-dimensional form". Parts are painted blue, red, yellow and white and contains no inscriptions. The Smithsonian Institution categorizes the sculpture as Abstract art, abstract (geometric). ''Untitled'' was surveyed and considered "treatment urgent" by Smithsonian's "Save Outdoor Sculpture!" program in 1993. The work is part of the collection of the Regional Arts & Culture Council. It has been included in at least one published walking tour of Portland. The tour's author said the sculpture's panels "form a child-size hiding place". Ivan Morrison (artist)
Sir George Ivan Morrison (born 31 August 1945), known professionally as Van Morrison, is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose recording career spans seven decades. He has won two Grammy Awards. As a teenager in the late 1950s, he played a variety of instruments such as guitar, harmonica, keyboards and saxophone for several Irish showbands, covering the popular hits of that time. Known as "Van the Man" to his fans, Morrison rose to prominence in the mid 1960s as the lead singer of the Northern Irish R&B and Rock music, rock band Them (band), Them. With Them, he recorded the garage band classic "Gloria (Them song), Gloria". Under the pop-oriented guidance of Bert Berns, Morrison's solo career began in 1967 with the release of the hit single "Brown Eyed Girl". After Berns's death, Warner Bros. Regional Arts & Culture Council
The Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) is an organization that administers arts grants in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties that also do advocacy in the Portland metropolitan area in Oregon, United States. It evolved from the city’s Metropolitan Arts Commission agency in the 1990s. In 1995, the Metropolitan Arts Commission became the RACC as an independent non-profit organization. Mission and Beneficiaries The mission of the organization is to integrate arts and culture in all aspects of community life through vision, leadership and service. RACC is funded by the City of Portland, Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington counties, Metro, the Oregon Arts Commission, and several private donors. The Portland Transit Mall is a public transit corridor that travels north–south through the center of downtown in Portland, Oregon, United States. TriMet, formally known as the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon, is a public agency that operates mass transit in a region that spans most of the Portland metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Oregon.
