Uno (La Ley Album)
''Uno'' (English: ''One'') is the sixth studio album by Chilean rock band La Ley, released on February 21, 2000 by Warner Music Group. Content Recording This was the first album released by the band after the departure of Rodrigo Aboitiz and Luciano Rojas. The band went on to record this studio album as a trio, with the addition of guest Archie Frugone to record the bass tracks. Touring bassist J.C. Cumplido returned to tour with them until his departure from the lineup in 2001. Cumplido was replaced by Archie Frugone for the remainder of the tour and beyond. Style Stylistically, this album was seen as a departure from the darker, more electro-industrial style of '' Vértigo'', and the grunge-fused goth style of ''Invisible'', adopting a more straightforward Alternative Rock sound with fewer experimental ambient sounds. La Ley (; ) were a Chilean rock band formed by Andrés Bobe, Rodrigo Aboitiz, Luciano Rojas and Mauricio Claveria with Beto Cuevas. History After an unsuccessful first album, ''Desiertos'' (1990), they released ''Doble Opuesto'' (1991), which appears as the official first album of the band. Singles like "Desiertos," "Tejedores de Ilusión," and "Prisioneros de la Piel" made them stars in Chile, Argentina and Mexico, especially after the release of '' La Ley'', their second recording (1993). ''Vértigo'' is La Ley's fifth album, released in 1998. Content and reception Due to the success of ''Invisible'', the band hardly found time to record what would be their next album. However, in 1997 they began recording and announced the album's release date for the middle of that summer, but it was later delayed until 1998. At the time, Rodrigo Aboitiz (the band's keyboardist) caused a series of troubles, missing the first weeks of recording. Generally, the album was completed with the same band members that worked on ''Invisible'', but just before the release, Rodrigo Aboitiz left the band due to a drug problem. After the album was finished, he left the band, effectively leaving the band without a studio keyboardist. One month before the release of the album, the first single, "Fotofobia", was released and slashed by critics. In 2001, Chilean rock band La Ley participated in MTV's Unplugged series in Miami, Florida, US. The album ''MTV Unplugged'' contains the recordings of the live concert and is to this date the band's best selling album, with sales of 1.5 million copies worldwide. The album emphasizes the band's alt-rock 1990s material rather than their 1980s pop rock sound. Mexican singer Ely Guerra is featured as a guest singer on "El duelo". Invisible (La Ley Album)
''Invisible'' is La Ley's fourth album. It is their second best selling album. The album reunites La Ley again with Rodrigo Aboitiz and invites a new member, Pedro Furgone, after the death of founder Andres Bobe. The album begins the dark era of La Ley. It was also La Ley's first album to have a song completely in French ("Deuxième Fois"). The album contains the number one hits "El Duelo", "Día Cero", and "Cielo Market". Backstory and Reception In 1994, Bobe died in a motorcycle accident, an event that brought the group to a major crossroad. It was Beto Cuevas who ultimately became most prominent in the group as it weathered the disaster.
