Club Unión Española S.A.D.P. is a professional association football, football club based in the Independencia, Chile, Independencia neighborhood, commune of Santiago, Chile. They currently participate in the Chilean Primera Division, Primera División de Chile. It has a branch of women's football, and competes in national tournaments with its lower categories. Acclaimed as one of the ''four great'' of Chilean football, it is one of the longest-lived teams in the country. Club De Deportes Green Cross
Green Cross is a defunct Chilean sports club that was based in the city of Santiago until 1965, when it moved to Temuco. History The club was founded on 27 June 1916, and its first chairman was ''Francisco Tapia''. It was one of the eight teams that founded the professional Chilean football league in 1933. The club had other sports branches besides football; these were basketball, cycling, and water polo. The club won its first and only Chilean league title in 1945. In April 1961 a number of players were killed in a plane crash in the Chilean Andes. The remains of the plane were found ten days after the accident. Juan Legarreta Ugarte (1897 in Irún, Spain - 22 November 1978 in Santiago, Chile) is a former Spanish-Chilean footballer who played for Unión Española as a central defender. Club career He began his senior career at the age of 16 playing for Irún Sporting Club, making his debut against an unknown Belgian team and scoring three goals. His best years came with Real Unión - a union of Sporting Club de Irún with Racing Club de Irún - playing a vital role in the club's triumph at the 1918 Copa del Rey Final as he scored both goals of a 2-0 win over Madrid FC (now known as Real Madrid). Copa Chile
The Copa Chile (''Chile Cup'') is an annual cup competition for Chilean football teams. Due to time constraints and club pressure, the trophy was cancelled in 2000, but returned in 2008. Its precursor was the Campeonato de Apertura (''Opening Championship''), played from 1933 to 1950. The cup is now open to every member club of the Chilean football league system, from professional teams; ( Primera División, Primera B & Segunda División), down to teams from the ANFA: Tercera División. Since the season 2009, the winners obtained a direct Copa Sudamericana spot for the next season, however this was change starting from the 2015 edition; since then the winners obtains a direct Copa Libertadores spot for the next season. Club de Deportes Santiago Wanderers is a football club based in Valparaíso, a founding member of the Chilean Football Federation. Their home ground, Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander, is in the north-west of the city. Wanderers have played their games there since 1931 after moving from Barrio Puerto. Founded on 15 August 1892, it's the country's oldest club and the oldest football team in Latin America as well. There are four clubs older than Wanderers in Peru and Argentina, but none of those started out as football clubs and all of their football branches started after 1892. Audax Club Sportivo Italiano () is a Chilean football club based in La Florida. Palestinians in Chile ( ar, فلسطينيو تشيلي) are believed to be the largest Palestinian community outside of the Arab world. Estimates of the number of Palestinian descendants in Chile range from 450,000 to 500,000. Migration history The earliest Palestinian migrants came in the 1850s during the Crimean War, fleeing due to Russia's intent to capture and control the Holy Land. They worked mainly as businessmen and also in agriculture. Other migrants arrived before and during World War I and later the 1948 Palestine war. By origin they primarily came from the cities of Beit Jala, Bethlehem, and Beit Sahour. Most of these early migrants were Christians. They typically landed at Argentine ports, and crossed the Andes by mule into Chile.
