, abbreviated as , is a co-educational 4-year public university located in Nagano, Nagano, Japan. It is the newest of the ten major universities in Nagano Prefecture. The University of Nagano consists of two campuses, named for their locations, Miwa Campus and Gocho Campus, respectively. Both campuses are open to the public. The University of Nagano should not be confused with , a formerly private, public as of 2017, university located in Ueda, Nagano. History The University of Nagano opened in April 2018. The school was first established by Nagano Prefecture as a women's school in 1929 before becoming a women's junior college in 1950. It became co-educational in 2004. Haruhiko Kindaichi
Haruhiko Kindaichi (金田一 春彦, ''Kindaichi Haruhiko''; April 3, 1913 – May 19, 2004) was a Japanese linguist and a scholar of Japanese linguistics (known as ''kokugogaku''). He was well known as an editor of Japanese dictionaries and his research in Japanese dialects. He was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun for his efforts. He was awarded a Doctor of Literature degree at Tokyo University in 1962. He was given official commendation as someone who has performed special service in the field of culture and an honorary citizen of the Tokyo Metropolitan District. It “supports the submission of manuscripts, peer‐reviewing, page‐layouting and dissemination of electronic journals” published in Japan. The site provides free access to full text electronic journals, proceedings, and reports from various Japanese scientific societies. It includes the Journal@rchive, an open access digital archive of Japanese journals, established in FY 2005 by the Government of Japan. By April 2009, some 540 academic organizations made use of the facility. As of February 2012, 1.68 million articles were available for download. The database was founded in April 2005 and is maintained by the National Institute of Informatics.
