Mansoura University was founded in 1972 in Mansoura city, Egypt. It is in the middle of the Nile Delta. It is one of the biggest Egyptian universities and has contributed much to the cultural and scientific life in Mansoura and Egypt. History The faculty of medicine was founded in 1962 as a branch of Cairo University. Hesham Sallam
Hesham Sallam ( ar, هشام سلام; born 1975) is an Egyptian paleontologist and the founder of the Mansoura University Vertebrate Paleontology Center (MUVP-C), the first vertebrate paleontology program in the Middle East. He works as an associate professor at the American University in Cairo and Mansoura University. Sallam led the discovery and description of '' Mansourasaurus shahinae'', a species of sauropod dinosaur from Egypt, which has improved understanding of the prehistory of Africa during the latest Cretaceous period. Mohamed Mansi Qandil
Mohamed Mansi Qandil ( ar, محمد المنسي قنديل, born in 1946 in al-Mahalla al-Kubra) is an Egyptian novelist and author. Early life His father was a simple labourer. Qandil went to medical school and worked as a country doctor before turning to writing as a full-time profession. He lived in Kuwait for several years, where he was an editor at the monthly magazine '' Al Arabi''. As of 2015 he was the editor of the Egyptian magazine '' Ibdaa''. He now lives in Canada. Career Qandil's first novel was called ''Breaking of the Spirit'' and dealt with the subject of workers' unrest in the delta region. Another novel ''Moon Over Samarqand'' was inspired by a conversation with a taxi driver he had met in Uzbekistan. This novel won the Sawiris Foundation Award in 2006. Ayman Nour
Ayman Abd El Aziz Nour ( arz, أيمن عبد العزيز نور, ; born 5 December 1964) is an Egyptian politician, a former member of the Egyptian Parliament, founder and chairman of the El Ghad party. Nour was the first man to ever compete against President Hosni Mubarak in the 2005 presidential election. However shortly after announcing his candidacy, Nour was stripped of his parliamentary immunity and arrested on 29 January 2005, a move that was widely criticized by governments around the world as a step backwards for Egyptian democracy. Due to international pressure, Nour was released to participate in the election and was unsuccessful. The election was widely considered to be a corrupt and rigged election. Hamdy Doweidar Taki El-Din Doweidar was an Egyptian condensed matter physicist whose research topics included inorganic glasses, glass-ceramics, bio-active glasses, and structure-property correlations. He developed the Doweidar Model which is used to correlate density, thermal expansion coefficient, molar refraction, and refractive index with the concentration of structural units in numerous types of glass. Doweidar also obtained a patent with two researchers for the preparation of a biologically active glass ionomer cement as a dental filling, characterized by vital activity due to the presence of bioactive crystalline phases in the retina glass (such as apatite and fluoroapatite), which react with SBF simulating solution to precipitate layers of hydroxyapatite and hydroxyapatite.
