Universidade Estadual do Maranhão (UEMA, English: ''State University of Maranhão'') is a public state university in the state of Maranhão, Brazil. It was founded on March 25, 1987, and is based in São Luís. In addition to the Universidade Federal do Maranhão (UFMA), it was the second university in the state. In September 2016, part of it was dismembered for creation of a third, the newly founded Universidade Estadual da Região Tocantina do Maranhão (UEMASUL). With more than 20 thousand students, the institution has 22 campuses and 25 university centers. In the university ranking, it ranks 157th in Brazil. The university rector is Gustavo Pereira da Costa. Lago Da Pedra
Lago da Pedra is a municipality in the state of Maranhão in the Northeast region of Brazil. Its estimated population in 2020 was 50,616 inhabitants. Along with Lago do Junco, Lago dos Rodrigues, Lagoa Grande do Maranhão and Poção de Pedras, Lago da Pedra is located in Lakes Region, an area for sustainable exploration of babassu. Coroatá
Coroatá is a municipality in Maranhão. History It was settled by the Portuguese and became a village in 1843. By 1912 work on railroads, to give greater connection to cities, had occurred. Coelho Neto (Maranhão)
Henrique Maximiano Coelho Neto (February 21, 1864 – November 28, 1934) was a Brazilian writer and politician. He founded and occupied the second chair of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, from 1897 until his death in 1934. He was also the president of the aforementioned Academy in 1926. Life Coelho Neto was born in the city of Caxias, Maranhão, on February 21, 1864. His father was Portuguese, and his mother was an indigenous woman, Ana Silvestre Coelho. At six years of age, his parents moved to Rio de Janeiro. He began his education at the Externato of the Colegio Pedro II. He attempted medical school but soon gave up.
