Universidad Central Del Este
Eastern Central University ( es, Universidad Central del Este; abbreviated as UCE) is a private university in the Dominican Republic, founded in San Pedro de Macorís on October 15, 1970, in the eastern region of the country. The university's Department of Medicine operates an important medical center located in the center of Santo Domingo. At an undergraduate level, the UCE counts with twelve academic departments: Medicine, Dentistry, Bioanalysis, Pharmaceutics, Business Sciences, Systems, Tourism, Production Sciences, Construction Sciences, Natural Resources, Law, and Social and Public Communication. The Dominican State officially recognized the institution through the Presidential Decree N°. 1205, on July 2, 1971. Universidad Autónoma De Santo Domingo
The Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) (Autonomous University of Santo Domingo) is the public university system in the Dominican Republic with its flagship campus in the Ciudad Universitaria (lit. University City) neighborhood of Santo Domingo and with regional campuses in many cities of the Republic. It was founded by Jose Gabriel Garcia and Emiliano Tejera in 1866 as the Professional Institute, replacing the former Universidad Santo Tomás de Aquino, one of the first universities of the Western Hemisphere (Americas), which was founded unofficially by a Papal bull in 1538, officially by royal decree in 1558, and closed in 1822. Elías Piña Province
Elías Piña () is a westernmost province which composing one of the 32 Provinces of the Dominican Republic, provinces of the Dominican Republic. It is divided into 6 municipalities and its capital city is Comendador, Elías Piña, Comendador. Duvergé
Duvergé, also known locally as ''Las Damas'' (Spanish: "the ladies", after the local Las Damas River) is the largest city in the province of Independencia in the Dominican Republic. The first settlers of this community were the gentlemen Christopher Pérez and María del Pulgar, originating from San Juan de la Maguana. History The village became a part of Baoruco Province of Azua, on May 9, 1850 by law number 533 on territorial division. On May 17, 1876, due to the number of inhabitants and its agricultural importance, the president Ulises Francisco Espaillat signed decree 1524, assigning the city to Azua Province. On September 12, 1881, it became a part of the Maritime District of Barahona, which today is the Municipality of Enriquillo. Neyba
Neiba (also spelt ''Neyba'') is a city in the southwest of the Dominican Republic. It is the capital city of the Baoruco province, and is located 180 kilometres west of the national capital, Santo Domingo, close to the shore of Lake Enriquillo, the largest lake in the West Indies. History Before the conquest and colonization of Hispaniola, the place was a nitainato belonging to the Chiefdom of Jaragua. The Dominican city of Pedernales is the capital of the Pedernales Province, in the Dominican Republic. Barahona (city)
Barahona, also known as Santa Cruz de Barahona, is the main city of the Barahona Province, in the southwest of the Dominican Republic. It has one of the most active ports in the region, as well as many ecotourism attractions. The city is a centre of sugar production and industry. Barahona is also known for being the only place where the rare Larimar stone can found. History Before its discovery by Europeans, the area belonged to the Native Taino chiefdom of Jaragua, ruled by Bohechío. San Cristóbal is a city in the southern region of Dominican Republic. It is the municipal (''municipio'') capital of the San Cristóbal province. The municipality is located in a valley at the foothills of the mountains belonging to the Cordillera Central, between the Nigua and Nizao rivers. San Juan De La Maguana
San Juan de la Maguana is a city and municipality in the western region of the Dominican Republic and capital of the San Juan province. It was one of the first cities established on the island; founded in 1503, and was given the name of San Juan de la Maguana by San Juan Bautista and the Taino name of the valley: Maguana. The term Maguana means "the first stone, the unique stone". La Romana is a municipality and capital of the southeastern province of La Romana, opposite Catalina Island.
