Universal Records Philippines, Inc. is a Filipino record label founded in 1977 as part of Warner Music Group. Since 1992, it is an independent label. The label is currently a member of the Philippine Association of the Record Industry. History URPI was founded in 1977 as WEA Records Philippines Inc. The company was the licensee of WEA in the Philippines for 15 years. However, the latter still decided to put its own office, the precursor of what is now Warner Music Philippines. In 1992, the company adopted a new name, Universal Records Philippines Inc., and since then it has risen as one of the Philippines' best and biggest record labels. Universal Records officially distributed K-pop albums from September 2009, to be followed by some J-pop albums which were announced in late May 2011. Angular Recording Corporation
Angular Recording Corporation was an independent record label founded in New Cross, South East London. It was established in June 2003 by two ex-Goldsmiths College students, Joe Daniel and Joe Margetts, who reclaimed a local Ordnance Survey Triangulation Station and made it their first artefact: ARC 001. The label's founders were influenced by a love of angular pop music and the Manchester label Factory Records. Gaining funding through medical testing, Angular Recording Corporation was able to finance its debut release in November 2003, the ''NME''-championed ''The New Cross : An Angular Sampler'', making it the lead review in the magazine. In the 2011 England riots, the label lost all its stock and entire back catalogue in the PIAS warehouse fire. An ''Angular Store'' website remains active. Cosmos Music, formerly Bonnier Amigo Music Group (BAMG), is an independent record company based in Stockholm, Sweden. Bonnier Amigo Music Group was formed in 2001 when the record company and distributor Amigo Musik merged with the record company Bonnier Music. BAMG claims to be the biggest independent record company in Scandinavia. BAMG does not exist as it has been changed to Cosmos Music as a Management Buyout in late 2009. BAMG signed acts including Helena Paparizou, Sunrise Avenue, Madcon, Amy Diamond and Sofia Karlsson. Blanco y Negro Records (Spanish: "White and Black"), a subsidiary of WEA Records Ltd., was established in 1983 by Geoff Travis of Rough Trade Records and Mike Alway of él Records. Michel Duval of Les Disques du Crépuscule was also involved with the label. Blanco y Negro was the label of Queen Adreena, Bananarama, Everything but the Girl, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Eddi Reader, the Dream Academy, Dinosaur Jr., Sudden Sway, Bernthøler, A House, Catatonia, the Veils and, reportedly, Elizabeth Fraser, former vocalist of Cocteau Twins. Beggars Banquet Records
Beggars Banquet Records is a British independent record label. Beggars Banquet started as a chain of record shops owned by Martin Mills and Nick Austin and is part of the Beggars Group of labels. History In 1977, spurred by the prevailing DIY aesthetics of the British punk rock movement (then at the height of its popularity), Martin Mills and Nick Austin founded a record label to release records under the Beggars Banquet imprint. The first band on the label was the English punk group the Lurkers; the first release on the label was the Lurkers' 7" single "Shadow"/"Love Story". They also released the first solo "Duffo" album from Australian big-band vocalist Jeff Duff. Later in the decade and into the early 1980s, hits with Tubeway Army and Gary Numan secured the label's future.
